iPres 2022 (12-16 September, Glasgow)
- Submission was accepted.
- No edits required, some inputs from the reviewers: https://inconference.eventsair.com/PresentationPortal/ipres-2022/paper-submission/Presentation/Update/31850c32-e85c-4d04-a7be-d046cae0020c?draft=False
- Karin, Inge and Juha are definitely attending and will sign up to present.
- By September we need to:
- Have the white paper finished & published in github
- Add full worked examples for METS1 vs. METS2
- Consider a simple transformation for at least some parts of METS1 to METS2
- Set up a way to provide feedback (outside of just GitHub)
- Have a plan for the METS profiles and be able to answer questions about that
-> July meeting
- Have a cleaned-up draft of the white paper & discuss that
- Aaron will incorporate changes from white paper ~ June 1st
- Andreas, Juha, others will review in June
- Discuss METS profiles (Karin)
-> August meeting
- Discuss feedback mechanism
- Discuss examples, overview & tutorial, transformation?
- Create an XSLT transformation and/or other tools to aid in migration from METS 1 to METS 2
- Not worth spending a lot of time on this before September if the schema is not final, but could start a rough draft once white paper is in good shape
- Update the METS primer and tutorial for METS 2
- The overview & tutorial https://www.loc.gov/standards/mets/METSOverview.v3_en.html is relatively short and it might be worth drafting a revision there
- Perhaps worth a revision once white paper is in good shape
- The primer https://www.loc.gov/standards/mets/METSPrimer.pdf is much more work -- would need to divide up the work; would be worth moving to GitHub and splitting it into pieces. Best to wait for a more finalized version.
- The overview & tutorial https://www.loc.gov/standards/mets/METSOverview.v3_en.html is relatively short and it might be worth drafting a revision there
- Publish vocabularies for attributes whose allowed values are no longer encoded in the schema
- Can pull out the existing values from the METS1 schema and draft these in github wiki at least
- Question if we can put those on the LOC web site - Bertrand has been working with that for PREMIS, so might be possible to do it in the same way.
- Review and update the METS profile schema to support METS 2
- Should at least discuss whether we want to keep the profiles or not and have a plan
- Should ask whether people find value in these
- Perhaps as a registry of organizations using METS in some way
- Not much value for information exchange
- Could see what the usage of the profile schema is that's out there but not registered
- Karin says -- yes, she has written a new profile recently...
- Updating the profile schema itself should wait
- Brian and Jukka step down from the board.
- Need to update the website and mailing list.
