Theme: Security updates and a faster app.
Changed
-
finbreak starts faster on Linux (FIBR-0099)
The AppImage no longer unpacks the whole app into a temporary folder
every time it starts. A start took about 1.5 seconds and now takes
about 0.8 seconds (measured on the developer's machine). -
The Transactions tab opens quickly however long your history is (FIBR-0097)
The list now draws only the rows on screen. With 20,000 transactions,
opening the tab took about 1.3 seconds and now takes about 0.1 seconds
(measured on the developer's machine). The list looks and sorts exactly
as before.
Removed
- The Flatpak build recipe is gone — finbreak will not be listed on Flathub (FIBR-0452)
Version 0.1.17 said a Flathub listing would follow. That plan was dropped,
and the Flatpak recipe has now been removed. On Linux, install finbreak
from the AppImage or the openSUSE Build Service packages (RPM/deb).
Security
- Two bundled libraries are updated to versions with their security fixes (FIBR-0455)
Version 1.0.1 shipped pillow 12.3.0, an image library, and certifi
2026.7.22, the list of trusted website certificates. Security warnings
were published for both after 1.0.1 came out. This release bundles
pillow 13.0.0 or later and certifi 2026.10.19 or later. The certifi fix
matters for the optional update check: it no longer trusts certificates
from a certificate authority whose keys were stolen. Updates were
already safe, because finbreak checks each downloaded update against
its own signing key.
