show Ctrl+F hotkey for focusing searchbox in GUI #8046
Comments
Commented by: esbrandt Can`t you just use CTRL+F before typing the search term on your keyboard?

Commented by: Be-ing Yeah, that works. So I guess the problem is that isn't indicated anywhere in the GUI so I didn't know that hotkey existed. Perhaps adding an item to the Library dropdown menu that says "Search" along with the Ctrl+F hotkey would help. |

Commented by: ywwg for the record I had no idea that ctrl-f put focus on the search box :). But I'm not sure the menu item is the right answer, it would be easy to select it and not see the change in the UI. I think a tooltip for the search box is the right solution. |
Commented by: Be-ing Both of those suggestions seem like good ideas to me. |
Commented by: Be-ing The Ctrl+Backspace description is incorrect. Ctrl+Backspace deletes words rather than clears the whole box. |

It would be helpful to be able to focus the library search box by mapping a control object to a controller button press. This would allow users to press a button on their controller and start typing to search without having to use their mouse.
