feature: support using backsticks when cross-referencing

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

It will be awesome if cross-referencing could support backsticks, such that both of these should render thesame output.

The first one looks good, but lacks the backsticks to better highlight it.

Describe the solution you'd like

If backsticks are provided, they should be automatically removed when cross referencing using [].

To avoid breaking existing code, we could maybe make this possible through an option in mkdocs.yml?

Hi @ndonkoHenri ! Thanks for the request. This is already supported though. If you can, please open a new issue that demonstrates the feature doesn't work as you expect. In the meantime I'll close this request 🙂
