MK Studio Upkeep 0.4.0
MK Studio Upkeep 0.4.0 adds protected local recovery for in-app software removal and moves the current source to AGPL-3.0.
What changed
- Every eligible bundle selected for in-app removal is copied and verified before anything moves to Trash. If backup creation fails, removal does not begin.
- Backups are enabled by default, retained for 30 days by default, and managed in a dedicated restore history. Settings also offers 7-day, 90-day and indefinite retention, manual cleanup, and a way to disable future backups.
- Backup records use owner-only filesystem permissions and symbolic-link backup locations are rejected.
- Review navigation and help text focus on locally confirmed findings: Intel-only copies, architecture incompatibility, different installed versions and multiple copies. Newer-edition suggestions remain excluded.
- Official developer destinations were reviewed again. Five obsolete hardware/support links were replaced; all 83 active HTTPS destinations were checked without sending inventory data.
- The README, manual, privacy, support, security and release documents were updated, with new dark and light screenshots built from fictional demonstration data.
Privacy and update boundaries
Scanning and matching happen locally. The app has no telemetry and does not upload inventory, paths or machine details. It does not fetch or compare current plugin or DAW releases. Website and software-manager buttons are locally matched navigation aids; unknown products still appear in the inventory. MK Studio Upkeep's own GitHub release page remains separate.
Software removal is optional and deliberately limited to the exact eligible bundles shown in the confirmation flow. It does not promise a complete vendor-specific uninstall. Driver-file removal is disabled. Keep recovery data until you have confirmed that your sessions still open correctly.
Licence
Current source and this release are licensed under AGPL-3.0. Version 0.3.0 and earlier installers retain the licence supplied with them.
Install
Requires macOS 13 or later. The disk image contains a universal Apple Silicon and Intel app signed with Developer ID, accepted by Apple notarisation and stapled.
