• Node 26 support, async_hooks on Node 26 are somewhat broken with getters returning a Promise because of nodejs/nan#1024

• gdal-async now has preliminary undocumented support for being rebuilt with SIMD support on x86 CPUs with --enable-simd. The option has no effect on Apple Silicon. Alas, at the moment it is impossible to provide prebuilt binaries that autodetect SIMD and can work without it, because it would require very significant changes to the build process. As the current build is already obsolete and will certainly be replaced by the CMake build (with hadron) at some point, there is no point in implementing this complex change.

• When retrieving the dataset SRS with ds.srs the getter no longer converts to WKT and back - now it retrieves the actual SRS object preserving a certain number of additional parameters such as the data to axis order. This does not effect data at all, currently the only known incompatibility is comparing this dataset using ds.srs.isSame() which will evaluate to false unless both SRS have the same data to axis mapping - previously this was ignored.
