0.32.0: new widgets, undo, backup reminders

Choose a tag to compare

@mo3shma mo3shma released this 28 Oct 21:16
  • Two new widgets. A tasks widget shows your open tasks and lets you start a new list. A month widget shows the whole month, rings today and puts a dot under days with meetings. Both can be resized.
  • One look for every widget. All five widgets share the same style in light and dark. In Settings → Widgets choose Clear, Soft or Solid, follow Plait or your phone's colours (Android 12 and up), and turn the Join button, the "what comes next today" line and the month dots on or off.
  • A first-run setup. On a new install, pick your language first, then get the recommended voice and AI models in one tap with their sizes shown. A Wi-Fi-only switch keeps big downloads off mobile data, and Plait says plainly what works without a model.
  • Undo for more things. Cancelling a meeting, deleting a series and dismissing a suggested task can now be undone for a few seconds.
  • Backup reminders. Plait reminds you when your last backup is over 30 days old. You can also turn on a scheduled backup in Settings: an encrypted copy is saved to your sync folder about once a week, when you open and leave the app.
  • Reduce transparency. A new switch in Settings makes glass panels solid. Several small buttons are now easier to tap.
  • Leaving a screen within 5 seconds of deleting a note now makes the delete final, where before the note came back.
  • Widgets lost their time-of-day backgrounds.

New package name. Plait now installs as com.plait.calendar. An earlier Plait on your phone cannot update to this version in place. Export a backup from the old Plait, install this version, restore the backup in the new app, then uninstall the old one.

Plait 0.31.0: Plait speaks Arabic

Choose a tag to compare

@mo3shma mo3shma released this 28 Oct 08:52
  • Plait now speaks Arabic. Every screen, menu, setting, notification and widget is available in Arabic, laid out right to left. Buttons, tabs, arrows, swipes and the calendar all flip to match.
  • Choose your language. Open Settings → Language and pick System default, English or العربية. Plait also appears in Android's own per-app language settings.
  • Your day, in Arabic. The day brief, meeting summaries, prep, follow-ups, reminders and shared documents are written in Arabic, with Western digits (0-9) for dates, times and counts.
  • On-device AI writes in Arabic. Summaries and answers come in Modern Standard Arabic. Smaller models may use the standard text more often than they do in English.
  • Quick add understands Arabic. Type things like "غدًا الساعة 3 م مع sam@acme.com لمدة ساعة" and the new-meeting form fills itself in.
  • Search handles Arabic better. It finds words with attached prefixes, different letter forms and Arabic digits.
  • Arabic and English mix cleanly. Notes, names and meeting titles in either language read in the right direction, even inside the same sentence.
  • Find a time follows your work week. If your week runs Sunday to Thursday, free times no longer land on Fridays.
  • Meetings show up as soon as you open Plait. Your calendars no longer take a minute to appear after the app starts, and a rare crash on launch is fixed.
  • Times stay on one line. A time such as "10:00 ص" no longer splits across two lines.

Plait 0.30.0: calmer alerts, a smoother Home, no more call recording

Choose a tag to compare

@mo3shma mo3shma released this 27 Oct 13:35
  • Call recording is gone. It only ever heard your own microphone, so it caught nothing during calls. The "Record this call" menu item and the Record chooser on a meeting are removed. Record on a meeting now starts a voice note straight away.
  • Quieter alerts. The meeting countdown alert is removed, and so are the ticking timers and the Android 16 status-bar chip. Recording shows a plain "Recording" or "Paused" notification with Pause and Stop. A task alert shows "Due 3:00 PM" with Done and Tomorrow. The reminder before a meeting, with Join and Snooze, is unchanged. The "Live alerts" row in Settings is gone.
  • Text no longer slides under the logo. On Home, in a meeting, and in Settings, scrolling content now fades out behind the Plait logo row instead of showing through it.
  • Home is lighter when you come back to it. Meeting briefs are remembered instead of rebuilt every visit and every minute. The pages next to the one you're on, the animated sky and the calendar refresh now wait until the screen has settled. The sync setting is no longer read on the main thread.
  • Build: Arabic photo reading now uses Tesseract4Android 4.8.0, because 4.9.0 can't be fetched from JitPack right now.
  • Not yet checked on a phone: how much smoother Home feels, the header fade in every theme and style, and the new recording and task notifications.

@mo3shma mo3shma released this 21 Oct 22:13

Swipe between the day times again. Morning, Midday and Evening scroll sideways, with the tab chips following; each keeps its own vertical stack of cards.

Cards that move easily. A short flick moves one card and it settles with a springy bounce; dragging past the ends rubber-bands back.

Tap a card to open it. Cards no longer scroll: the card grows to fill the screen area, where you can scroll through everything. When a card has more than fits, its bottom edge blurs progressively (dark in dark mode, light in light mode).

Bigger quotes that fill the space on a clear day or an empty card.

Better widgets. The 4x2 and 2x2 use the app's font and a time-of-day tint, with a glass Join button, a big start time, the title and place, and a strip showing what comes next. No countdown.

AI for typed and photo notes. Text notes and text read from photos now get a short summary and suggested tasks like voice notes do, never analysed twice for the same text. Notes that belong to no meeting get task suggestions too.

Not yet checked on a phone: Material style on the new card effects, and the 2x2 widget on a home screen.
