Maintainer guidance requested for PR #2779: remote cache errors and server disconnects

Hi sccache maintainers,

I’m looking for guidance on PR #2779 (#2779).

The patch addresses two narrow failure-handling cases:

• unexpected remote-cache read failures are reported through the existing cache-error statistics path rather than appearing as ordinary misses;
• response I/O failures after CompileStarted follow the documented default-fatal policy, while retaining the explicit SCCACHE_IGNORE_SERVER_IO_ERROR=1 fallback.

The change is limited to src/cache/cache.rs and src/commands.rs, includes focused regression tests, and does not alter protocols, cache formats, dependencies, or multi-level-cache policy.

The branch is synced with current main and is mergeable. At present, the fork workflows require maintainer approval and the PR has not received a human review.

Could a maintainer please approve the workflows and either review the PR or point me to the appropriate reviewer? If the design direction should change, early feedback would be equally useful.

We have a downstream consumer temporarily pinned to this PR’s source revision, so an upstream resolution would help us avoid carrying that pin long-term.
