LanternLedger 1.0.1 for Windows.

Download LanternLedger Setup.exe below, then run it to install. If you already have LanternLedger 1.0.0, just run the new Setup to update.

Your books stay on your computer in the same place as before (%APPDATA%\LanternLedger). Installing this update doesn't remove or change them.

This update makes your books safer and fixes the app icon.

What's new

Safer backup restore and import

  • Restoring a backup or importing books (portable ZIP, .db file, or an older LanternLedger folder) now happens as one step. If anything goes wrong partway, even a crash or power cut, your books stay exactly as they were.
  • LanternLedger checks a backup before it uses it. It refuses a damaged or half-written backup, or a file that isn't LanternLedger books, and leaves your books untouched.
  • Right before a restore or import, LanternLedger saves a copy of your current books, so you can undo it.
  • Changes you make right before a backup, export, or restore are no longer missed.
  • Backups from older versions of LanternLedger still restore correctly.

Safer backups and exports

  • If a backup gets interrupted, it doesn't leave a broken file behind.
  • Two backups made in the same second no longer overwrite each other.
  • Cleaning up old backups only removes old backups. It never removes your books or the backup you're restoring from.

Fixed icon

  • The LanternLedger icon on the desktop, Start menu, taskbar, and installer is no longer squashed. It's now a proper square lantern.

Small fixes

  • If Windows marked your books file as read-only, LanternLedger now fixes that on its own. Before, the books could open as "damaged."
  • A few other behind-the-scenes fixes to make the app sturdier.

Good to know

  • After you update, the Terms of use screen shows up once more. Click Accept and it won't show up again until the next update.
  • If Windows says "Unknown publisher," click More info → Run anyway.
  • To look for future updates: Settings → App updates → Check for updates.
