NotchBar 1.2.2: Codex just works
Codex just works π€
- Codex shows up in the notch with zero setup. No more running /hooks and trusting entries by hand: NotchBar trusts its own hooks for you (only those, nothing else)
- Already on NotchBar and Codex never showed up? Update and it starts working on the next Codex chat
- Install Codex, Cursor or Claude Code later and NotchBar connects it on its own. Turned an agent off? It stays off
- The real Codex logo in the notch, the session list and the usage strip, crisp at every size
Update
On 1.0.6 or newer, NotchBar offers this update itself: tap the banner, then Update and restart. Older versions: quit NotchBar, open the DMG and drag NotchBar into Applications.
First launch
NotchBar isn't notarized yet, so a fresh download asks once. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway.

NotchBar 1.2.1: CI goes green on time

- The notch notices CI finishing within seconds, not a minute later
- Your daily receipt and share posts now link to the NotchBar website, so friends land on the demo and the download button
- The website got new frosted glass feature cards and a live daily receipt you can print, tear and share

NotchBar 1.2.0: CI at a glance
Watch CI without opening the notch π
Your agent pushed. Now you can keep an eye on CI while you get on with your day.
- The closed notch now shows a live glimpse of every run: the GitHub mark, your project, a mini pipeline and a ticking timer
- A soft light sweeps across while CI works, so you can tell it's moving at a glance
- When an agent is busy too, a tiny GitHub mark sits next to its timer so you know CI is still going
- The CI timer now ticks every second and freezes the moment a run finishes
- Your agents still come first: approvals and questions always take over the notch
- The website got a glow up: new type, a word by word headline and a Mac that opens its lid
Built tougher
Every change to NotchBar now goes through a faster, stricter pipeline that finishes in about 2.5 minutes:
- Scans for leaked secrets, unsafe workflows and vulnerable dependencies
- Tests on macOS 14, 15, 26 and 27, with compiler warnings treated as errors
- Launches the packaged app on every one of those versions before it can ship

NotchBar 1.1.0: GitHub Actions in your notch
GitHub Actions in your notch π¦
Your agent pushed. Now your notch watches CI.
- The moment an agent runs
git push, the notch drops down with the GitHub mark and plays the pipeline live: Lint, Test, Package, all of it, stage by stage - Matrix jobs fold into one stage (
Test 2/3) and the step that's running shows underneath, likePackage: Build DMG and zip - Green? The stages light up one by one, a shine runs across, and you get
all green in 4m 12s. ship it - Red? You hear about it the second a job breaks. The banner names the job and the step (
Test (macOS 14) broke at "Test"), the broken stage shakes, and one tap opens the run on GitHub - Open the notch and a CI card sits under the session with the live pipeline, branch, commit and timer
- Slow CodeQL scans and Pages deploys never hold up the result, and pushes from a subfolder work too
Setup takes about 30 seconds
- Public repos: nothing to do
- Private repos: Settings βΊ GitHub βΊ Connect GitHub. Terminal opens, installs the GitHub CLI if you need it, and signs you in through your browser. NotchBar picks up the login by itself
- Already use
gh? You're connected already
NotchBar borrows your gh login and never stores a token. Only the repo name and commit go to GitHub, and you can turn it off in Settings.
Also new
- Mochi is now smooth vector art, crisp on every screen
- New Featherweight section on the website with measured numbers: 19 MB of memory and about 0.3% CPU

NotchBar 1.0.8: a cuter, cleaner pet
Meet the new kitty π±
- Your notch pet is now a round little kitty with pointy pink ears, rosy cheeks and a tiny tail
- Click it and it melts: heart eyes, a happy hop, a burst of pink hearts and a wink
- When a task finishes it gobbles the cookie, wags its tail and celebrates
- New little habits when it's chilling: bouncy hops, a tongue out blep, tail wags and a curious look around
- It yawns and stretches when it wakes up, and naps curled into a loaf with its tail tucked in
- Lighter than ever: the pet draws for almost nothing, and after a minute of napping it stops ticking completely

NotchBar 1.0.7: tour and Report a Problem
A tour, and a better way to tell us what broke π οΈ
- New here? Your pet now hosts a quick six step tour: connect your agents, try a sample approval, and meet the receipt
- Report a Problem in the gear menu writes the bug report for you, with your Mac and app details and a short activity log
- You see exactly what's shared before anything leaves your Mac. Never your prompts, commands, code or file paths
- If NotchBar ever crashes, it offers to report it on the next launch with the crash details attached
- Show Tour and Report a Problem are also in Settings

NotchBar 1.0.6: updates in one tap
Updates in one tap π
- NotchBar now updates itself. When a new version is out, your pet shows up carrying a little gift
- A banner tells you what's new, and Update and restart installs it in a few seconds
- Every update is checked against GitHub's checksum and its code signature before it's installed
- After the restart, a banner shows what you just got
- Check for Updates in the gear menu, and an Updates section in Settings to turn daily checks off
- The only thing NotchBar ever asks the internet is "is there a new version?" once a day. Nothing about you or your code is sent
This is the last manual update
Install this one by hand. From now on, new versions arrive in the notch and install with one click.
Update
Quit NotchBar, open the DMG and drag NotchBar into Applications, replacing the old copy. Your hooks keep working.

NotchBar 1.0.5: your receipt, any time
Your receipt, any time π§Ύ
Your pet moved into the header πΎ
- Your pet now sits live in the notch header, next to + and the gear
- Click it any time, even while agents are busy, and it prints today's receipt
- A tiny scrap of paper peeks out of it when there's something new since you last looked
- Once an evening, after a real day of work, it tells you your receipt is ready. Tap the banner to see it
- Also in the gear menu as Today's Receipt
- Level up banners now open your pet and receipt too
Fixed: approvals that didn't open
- If an agent asked for permission while a banner was showing, the notch could stay banner sized. You saw a strip of code at the top of the screen instead of the approval card with Allow and Deny
- The card now always opens fully, and the notch double checks its size whenever it opens, closes or shows a banner

NotchBar 1.0.4: your notch pet
Meet your notch pet πΎ
When nothing is running, NotchBar is no longer just a black pill. A tiny pixel pet lives in your notch now.
It's alive (kind of)
- It wanders around the notch, blinks, looks around and naps when things get quiet π€
- Every time one of your agents finishes a task, a cookie drops in and it eats it πͺ
- On MacBooks with a notch it hangs out next to the camera and sometimes walks behind it to the other side
Your day, printed as a receipt π§Ύ
- Hover the notch while idle and today's receipt prints out of it line by line, with a little printer sound
- Time per agent, tasks shipped, files touched, lines, commands, tests, approvals, tokens and the API value of your day
- Every number comes from your agents' real activity. Rows with nothing in them stay off the receipt
- Each day gets its own barcode and a line that sums it up, like "1k+ lines. absolute cinema π¬"
- Post it copies the receipt as an image and opens a post on X, just press βV. You can also copy it or save it to your Desktop
It grows with you
- It starts as an egg and hatches on your first finished task π£
- It earns XP as you ship. Level 3 unlocks a sprout π±, level 6 headphones π§, level 10 a crown π
- Keep a 7 day streak going and it gets sunglasses π
Light on your Mac
- Animates at a few frames per second only while you can see it, and stops completely when your displays sleep
- Turn it off or give it a new name in Settings

NotchBar 1.0.3
New
- Your next prompt actually reaches the agent. Type a follow up while the agent works and NotchBar hands it over the moment it finishes, in any terminal (Warp included), for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. When the agent is idle, it types straight into the right iTerm, Terminal or tmux tab.
- Live CPU, memory and SSD. One quiet row under your plan limits, accurate to Activity Monitor and Finder. The CPU bar shows how much your agents and their builds are using. Warns you before the disk fills up. Only samples while the notch is open.
- A calmer, more professional look. Grayscale by default, amber when something needs your approval, blue when it's your reply, red for danger, green for done. No gradients anywhere.
- Waiting that feels like an assistant. NotchBar shows the agent's actual question first, then friendly lines like "your move β¨" and "done cooking π³".
Fixed
- Status text could disappear when it changed while the notch was open.
Install / update: open the DMG and drag NotchBar into Applications, replacing the old copy. Requires macOS 14+, Apple Silicon or Intel.
This build isn't notarized yet. The first time, macOS says it can't be opened: go to System Settings βΊ Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
