• Enhance OOXML detection and handling for non-standard packages: strict OOXML variants, alternate part paths and handmade packages are detected and normalized (extended OPC normalization, updated DOCX/PPTX normalizers), with handmade strict/altpath fixtures added.
• Add PDF render worker leases and idle document caching, and detect crashed render workers before acknowledgements.
• Implement tight spacing rules for non-CJK characters in native PDF text assembly via a new Rust text_spacing module with a Python reference implementation; reviewed baseline updates accompany the rule.
• Derive ABI protocol expectations from source and restore rustfmt module order.

Compatibility

• The private native protocol is now 23; restart existing processes after upgrading so cached backends are re-selected.
