Wowl 1.3.0

Wowl 1.2.0
New
- About dialog — a new ⓘ button in the toolbar shows the version, license and a link to the project.
- In-app updates — Wowl can now check GitHub for a newer release (in the About dialog, or automatically once a day), download it with a progress bar and install it. Every download is verified against a signature key built into Wowl before it is used; anything that doesn't match is rejected.
- Portable copy: Wowl replaces its own
Wowl.exeand restarts.wowl.tomland the history next to it are left untouched. - Installed copy: the verified installer is started.
- Portable copy: Wowl replaces its own
- "Updates" setting — check automatically (default) or only manually.
Fixed
- "Set as lock screen" could fail with "Access is denied (os error 5)" on systems where security software blocks overwriting the previously imported
.regfile. Wowl now writes the lock-screen registry values directly (still a single UAC prompt) and no longer creates a.regfile. The leftoverC:\ProgramData\Wowl\lockscreen.regcan be deleted.
Earlier versions have no updater, so download 1.2.0 manually once; later versions can then be installed from within Wowl.
Windows x64 only for this release. macOS and Linux builds are planned.
Wowl is portable: just run Wowl.exe, or use the installer if you prefer a Start Menu entry. Settings are stored as wowl.toml next to the executable.
Wowl 1.1.1
Bugfix release.
Fixed
- Wallhaven search with multiple search terms (comma/semicolon-separated) could return "Wallhaven returned no wallpapers" — Wallhaven's search treats space-separated terms as AND (all must match), so combining several terms often collapsed the result set to zero. Terms are now joined with OR instead, matching how the other sources behave.
Windows x64 only for this release. macOS and Linux builds are planned.

Wowl 1.1.0
Two new image sources, plus stricter Unsplash attribution.
New sources
- Pixabay — add a free API key under Settings → source "Pixabay" (get one at pixabay.com/api/docs). Search supported.
- Wallhaven — works without a key; an optional key from wallhaven.cc/settings/account only raises the request limit. Search supported.
Other changes
- Lorem Picsum's photographer and source links now carry the Unsplash referral parameters, matching the Unsplash source.
- README updated with the new sources and how to obtain each key.
