Welcome to the z486 XL discussion area.

z486 XL brings the z486 DOS PC core and experimental Voodoo 1-compatible zSST acceleration to the AMD/Xilinx Kria KV260. It is a separate experiment alongside z486_MiSTer: it targets the KV260, does not run on MiSTer, and may have different features and limitations.

Please use this repository for:

• KV260 installation, first-boot, storage, display, audio, keyboard, and mouse questions
• DOS software and game compatibility results
• zSST and Voodoo game testing
• Performance measurements and optimization ideas
• Reproducible problems and feature requests specific to z486 XL

When reporting a result or problem, please include:

• The z486 XL release or build date
• The program or game name and exact version
• The VHD boot environment and relevant configuration
• Clear reproduction steps, expected behavior, and observed behavior
• Whether the result is repeatable
• Benchmark settings, logs, screenshots, or short videos when useful

Please search before starting a new topic and keep one problem per discussion when possible. Do not upload copyrighted ROMs, disk images, games, or other software.

The first release is experimental. Doom, Quake 1.0.6, and general DOS operation have been tested. Tomb Raider is currently the only tested 3dfx game, so compatibility reports for other Voodoo titles are especially welcome.

Downloads are published on the z486 XL Releases page. Please keep Xilinx-board conversation in this repository so the regular z486_MiSTer discussions remain focused on MiSTer.
