What is problem? I download and use app. It works. |
@francwalter made me laugh with his comment. The application works. However, it is always interesting to have an active repo manager. At least to merge the PR. |
I'm a bit concerned, @naotaka hasn't shown any online activity after november 2014. Not on GitHub, his blog and Twitter. |
The lack of updates (versions or info) leaves me uncertain if ClipMenu is compatible with Yosemite. And if so, which version? I see versions 0.4.3, 0.4.4, and 1.0? Which to use? and how do they differ? |
Yes this application still works even on 10.11.3. |
I am using the compiled version 0.4.3 from the website (http://www.clipmenu.com/) and it works quite fine on macOS Sierra (10.12.2). |
I found a fork of this project called clipy which is still being maintained. |
Dropbox download links are no longer working.

@harman28 I wonder if we can set up a mirror URL and get that accepted into the Cask repository. I have it installed on some of my machines. It should be possible to pull the .dmg. EDIT: Folks please just use Clipy. |
I happened to have a copy here. You have to gunzip it, since github won't allow me to attach just a .dmg file. |
i hope everything's alright with Naotaka, but checking out Clipy now. |
Never realized how much I loved Clipmenu until its gone... |
Since a while I bought "Copy'em Paste", which is the best clipboard app I know for Mac. |
@BecomingDitto, thanks for posting the download. I wonder if another developer could take over the application and keep it updated. It looks like the original developer is MIA. |
@bakari45 https://clipy-app.com/ is a fork that is now maintained (github link: https://github.com/Clipy/Clipy). i've found it to be stellar so far. |
Does the version available here work on High Sierra (10.13.3) ?https://github.com/naotaka/ClipMenu/files/1093000/ClipMenu_0.4.3.dmg.gz |
@Pragad Yes, It works ( can't believe! ) |
10.13.5, not work. |
amazing. |
this is a masterpiece. became a fan since I use Mac. blessing Naotaka. no matter where you are. |
@cnyyk
Tried that in Mojave with no luck. Moving to Clipy. |
@bzx Should try AppCleaner to clean all files except ClipMenu.app. I am using ClipMenu on Mojave perfectly. |
@cnyyk thanks for the tip, from the quick test it seems it's working! |
@cnyyk when you say to "try AppCleaner to clean all files except ClipMenu.app" you mean clean all the 'caches', 'preferences' and 'crash reports, etc, as show here: https://i.postimg.cc/mgVKS5X4/Screenshot-2018-10-29-19-25-49.png If not, could you please tell me which files I need to clean and whether it's using appleaner and uninstaller, in order to use clipMenu with Mojave? Thanks! |
I can't seem to get it to show up in the menubar... 10.13.6 |
always works fine, always, now I'm using 10.4.1 |
@cnyyk I'm on 0.4.4a and your tip about removing previous config doesn't work - it's still buggy. Gotta find 0.4.3... Found, and it's better. We'll see. |
Clipy doesn't seem to work to copy/paste images, or at least I can't preview them the same way I did with ClipMenu Edit: Clipy 1.1.5 works flawlessly |
So that's the reason I come back to watch this issue again. |
Anyone able to get ClipMenu to work on MacOS 10.4.4? It says it's running but I can't get the interface to come up. I have the menubar item hidden. I tried clipy but it just doesn't work with images like ClipMenu |
Clipy exact version 1.1.5 works flawlessly |
Actually, ClipMenu always works like a charm(I'm on 10.14.4 and 0.4.3)
|
Guys how to download this awesome application now? Download link on the official site responding 404. And brew cask too:
|
I found a Clipy as reincarnation of ClipMenu. |
Use Clipy instead. I don’t know why this awesome app would be discontinued.
Someone should make a pix version I’d pay $99 for a modern update.

Another great option is the Copy Less 2. I really liked it and its features. |
Never seen that one. Checking it out now. I really wish Apple would just
built this into the OS.

What I love about Clipy and ClipMenu is they are completely invisible
unless you hold a special modifier key. This should be built into the OS.

My personal favorite is Copy ‘em Paste, it costs 16€ but it is worth it: it has favorites, named clips, full text search, works with images, customizable shortcuts even for single clips, iCloud sync... |
Oh I really appreciate everyone sharing. I’m going to check them all out.
My fear is Clipy won’t be maintained and like clipmenu it will cease to
work.

I have in the past opted to have Clipmenu in my dropbox, version 0.4.3
that works perfectly even on macOS Catalina (I'm a beta user)
@naotaka <https://github.com/naotaka> 🔥👏

Clipy works great for me as well. |
@naotaka 🔥👏 |
Clipmenu doesn't work in Catalina for me. Will try Clippy. Crazy that I've been using multiple copy/paste tools for almost 20 years now, still not integrated to the OS. But dark mode, yeah, we have a dark mode now. Ok. |
ClipMenu still works. Just got the 0.4.3 version and working on 10.15.2 |
works well on 10.15.6 |
@nitantsoni |
As others have done ... I suggest using Clipy (it's being actively maintained, and working fine on MacOS 11.3), or another similar option is Maccy. You can buy on App Store ($9.99), or install free using Homebrew ( I give thanks for @naotaka for developing ClipMenu, and for making it open source. Wherever you may be ... thank you. |
CopyLess2 - free, and has a killer feature: search functionality! Been using it for a longer while now, for me it's much better than ClipMenu/Clipy. |
Wow thanks for all these alternative suggestions. These apps or so great
clippy should be build into MacOS

https://github.com/Clipy/Clipy (or direct dl from https://clipy-app.com) This works on my new iMac M1 that I just unboxed. On my MacBook Pro when this happened a year ago, i just literally copied the binary from Applications folder from my previous laptop, that works too. But the updated version in the link provided is a bit better (honestly, there is almost no difference). Regarding removing an old version, Parallels Tools has a tool that will remove related files from Library directory, although you don't need to do that unless u corrupted permissions or a file, in which case, AppCleaner or the parallels tools app cleaner won't be as helpful, YMMV. Tldr - use Clipy, linked above IMHO |
Still using ClipMenu in Sonoma. |
I switched to using clipboard and snippet manager in raycast: https://www.raycast.com |
Same. Raycast rules! |
5 years since I posted this message... but it still holds 😄 My personal favorite is Copy ‘em, it costs 16€ but it is worth it: it has favorites, named clips, full text search, works with images, customizable shortcuts even for single clips, iCloud sync... |
