Professor Messer: Microsoft Command Line Tools – CompTIA A+ 220-1002 – 1.4
- type the "dir" command - "cd" to change - ".." to go the the directory previous to the one you are on
- to shutdown from CMD: "shutdown /a"
- SFC: System File Checker will scan for files, locate damged ones and repair those damaged files.
- gpupdate: group policy update will force the PC to update
What advantages does the "robocopy" command offer over the "xcopy" command, and why is it useful for file transfers in certain situations?
- robocopy allows you to quickly back up all files onto another place, like a usb drive just like XCOPY, but it allows you to resume a file transfer/backup if it is interrumpted before it is complete
Think about any real-life scenarios from your cultural context where the use of command line tools could be beneficial. Describe one such scenario and explain how a specific command line tool would help address the situation.
- I want to re- install my Windows 10 PC because there is a faulty Operating Systemn I recieved from the manufacturer. I am planning to create a partition with the command box, and also back up my files, and try to create a start up USB.
