Hotfix 0.1.38
Hotfix for Less stutters
If you turned on Less stutters in 0.1.37, some levels could suddenly show stretched walls, long streaks or giant flat planes after a while (Endless Sea of Possibilities, the LEGO Movie world and others), and turning the option off only helped after restarting the level. That's fixed.
What was wrong: the GPU keeps its own copy of the game's memory. When the late GPU data arrived, the game's memory got it correctly, but in some cases the GPU's own copy kept old data and nothing refreshed it until the level reloaded. Now the GPU's copy is always brought up to date right after the late data lands.
If you never turned Less stutters on, nothing changes for you.
Important
Less stutters still needs testing. It's still off by default, and so far it has only been tested on my PC. Please turn it on (F4 → Mods and fixes → Less stutters), play different levels and worlds, and if anything looks wrong, open an issue with your game.log, screenshots or a video, the level and where you were, and whether it goes away after turning Less stutters off and restarting the level.
Found any problem? Please report it in Issues right away and attach your game.log.
0.1.37 (Russian translation 1.4, Less stutters fix - please test)
A quick word about the GPU native build
I'm still working on making the GPU native build play at least somewhat well, but please don't expect great results from it any time soon. I'm sorry about that. In the meantime this regular build keeps getting fixes.
What's new in 0.1.37
- Russian translation 1.4 by koctr113: lots of text fixes, a new font and font settings. If you have the translation installed, the update brings it in automatically.
- Less stutters should no longer break Endless Sea and Springfield. Before, the GPU data that arrived late could overwrite what the game had already written to the same memory, which caused the exploded geometry, streaks and broken textures. Now the game's own writes always win and the GPU only fills in what the game hasn't touched.
- The log no longer fills up with tens of thousands of "Too few processor cores" warnings on 4-core CPUs.
Important
Less stutters needs your help. It worked on my PC, but it hasn't been tested on any other PC, and there's no proof yet that it's 100% fixed. It's still off by default.
Please turn it on (F4 → Mods and fixes → Less stutters) and play through different levels and worlds here and there. If you see anything wrong (stretched walls, streaks, black or broken textures, missing objects, crashes or freezes), please open an issue and attach:
- your
game.log(from the game folder, right after it happens, before you start the game again), - screenshots or a short video of the problem,
- the level/world and roughly where you were,
- whether it goes away when you turn Less stutters off.

0.1.36 (volume slider, save converter, important news)
A word from me first
I've got a lot of work in real life right now, and the GPU recompilation is going worse than I expected: at the moment it runs at a lower frame rate than any other edition of the game.
But there's also great news: the PS4 version of LEGO Dimensions has been successfully launched by my friend deadinside28, who made Bloodborne PC for Linux. Once he has released all his updates and Windows support, I'll start working on a version that's better than this Xbox 360 recomp. When that happens I'll probably archive this project and publish everything I have locally right now.
Thank you all for playing, testing and reporting. Updates here will keep coming in the meantime.
What's new in 0.1.36
- Volume slider. F4 → Audio → Volume goes from 0 to 200. 100 sounds exactly like before, so turn it up if the game is too quiet for you. Very loud scenes may distort near 200.
- Turn off controller vibration. F4 → Input → Controller vibration (#34).
- AMD integrated graphics start on Vulkan automatically. Ryzen APUs (like the 5600G/5600GT) crashed at startup with
DEVICE_HUNGon Direct3D 12 but run fine on Vulkan. With the graphics API on Automatic the game now picks Vulkan for them. Choosing Direct3D 12 yourself still works (#41). - The updater no longer gets stuck on "the game is open" when the game or its crash window was still running in the background. It now offers to close it and carries on (#38).
- Better crash reports. The GitHub form that opens after a crash now tells you right at the top to attach
game.logand the crash dump (the folder opens with them selected), and it fills in your GPU and graphics API for you. - The F4 settings window can't crash the game anymore. A setting that fails is written to
game.loginstead (#37). - Less stutters (F4 → Mods and fixes) now applies right away, no restart needed.
- Save converter 1.6: PS3, PS4 and Wii U saves now convert straight to Dimensions Recompiled, with no Xbox 360 step in between. Just pick the game folder as the output. A converted save goes into an empty slot instead of replacing your first one. It's in
tools\SaveConverterif you installed it (release notes).
Note
Less stutters still glitches geometry in some levels (Endless Sea, parts of Springfield and Middle-earth). If you see stretched walls or streaks, turn it off.
Found any problem? Please report it in Issues right away and attach your game.log.
0.1.35 (third save slot fixed)
What's new in 0.1.35
- Third save slot shows again. With three saves, Load Game showed "Slot 3 Empty" even though the save was fine. The game reads only four entries from the save folder, and the recomp's install cache was taking one of them. Your third slot is back, nothing in the save itself was wrong. Thanks to @GusDoctor for the very precise report (#27).
- More precise guest sleeps. The game's worker threads wait in 1 ms steps, and Windows often oversleeps them. They now use a high-resolution timer instead. Idea from EdgeOfTimeRecompiled.
Note
Less stutters (F4 → Mods and fixes) still glitches geometry in some levels (Endless Sea, parts of Springfield and Middle-earth). If you see stretched walls or streaks, turn it off and restart.
Warning
AMD graphics cards and low-end PCs are a known problem right now. Expect low frame rates and stutter on weaker machines, and AMD-specific glitches. I'm doing my best to get both playable, but there's no ETA yet. Reports with a game.log help a lot.
Found any problem? Please report it in Issues right away and attach your game.log.
0.1.34 (crash popup, quit crash fixed)
What's new in 0.1.34
- Crash on Quit Game fixed. Going Quit to Vorton and then Quit Game (seen after Knight Rider) could crash the game on the way out. The game now skips the broken entry it tripped over.
- "Your game crashed" popup. If the game ever crashes, a box now pops up offering to open a new GitHub issue for you, with the details to fill in, and shows your
game.login Explorer so you can drag it straight in. Closing the game normally (including Alt+F4) never shows it. To turn it off, setcrash_report_popup = falseinlegodimensions.toml. - Moved installs and Proton/Wine prefixes. If the folders the installer wrote in the config don't exist anymore (the game was moved, or runs in a different Proton prefix than the installer did), the game now uses the folders next to
legodimensions.exeinstead of failing to start. - README: added recommended specs.
Tip
On an AMD card with Vulkan problems? Please send a screenshot or short video of what's wrong, and which world, so I can see what you see. The logs alone show nothing unusual.
Warning
AMD graphics cards and low-end PCs are a known problem right now. Expect low frame rates and stutter on weaker machines, and AMD-specific glitches. I'm doing my best to get both playable, but there's no ETA yet. Reports with a game.log help a lot.

0.1.33 (Vulkan fixed)
What's new in 0.1.33
- Vulkan colours fixed. On Vulkan the world was too dark with black patches, or blown out to white. The cause was a texture brightness value read from the wrong place; Vulkan now renders like Direct3D 12. It can still look slightly darker than Direct3D 12 in places, and that's being looked at.
- Vulkan stutters less on repeat runs. Compiled shaders are now kept in a cache on disk, so the second run doesn't recompile everything. The first run after updating still builds the cache.
- "Compiling shaders" notice on Vulkan, the same one Direct3D 12 shows at the bottom of the screen.
- New option: F4 → Mods and fixes → Less stutters (unstable, Direct3D 12 only). It removes most of the stutter, but it breaks the Endless Sea of Possibilities level and can glitch some views in Springfield and other worlds. Off by default. Needs a restart.
- Settings changed in F4 are saved when you close F4. On Steam Deck the game is rarely closed normally, so changes used to be lost.
- The installer retries when the drive with the game files drops out (seen on Linux/Lutris as "Not ready"), and tells you to copy the files to a local drive if it keeps happening.
- The Graphics API option is now just Vulkan, without "(unstable)".
Tip
On an AMD card with a black world or glitched levels on Direct3D 12? Try F4 → Graphics → Graphics API → Vulkan and restart the game. Let me know if it helps.
Warning
AMD graphics cards and low-end PCs are a known problem right now. Expect low frame rates and stutter on weaker machines, and AMD-specific glitches. I'm doing my best to get both playable, but there's no ETA yet. Reports with a game.log help a lot.

0.1.32
What's new in 0.1.32
- Vulkan works again. Choosing F4 → Graphics → Graphics API → Vulkan made the game fail to start with "Failed to load GPU plugin 'xenos'". The graphics plugin was missing its Vulkan part; it's back.
- A bad Graphics API value no longer blocks startup. If the config holds a value the game doesn't know, it now falls back to the default instead of refusing to start.
Tip
On an AMD card with a black world or glitched levels on Direct3D 12? Try F4 → Graphics → Graphics API → Vulkan and restart the game. It's a fallback, not a fix: colours can be off.

Hotfix 0.1.31
What's new in 0.1.31
Hotfix: 0.1.30 didn't start for some players and showed "amd_fidelityfx_dx12.dll was not found". That file is now included. Everything from 0.1.30 is in here too (level-end crash fix, smoother fullscreen, older CPUs, FSR 1/CAS back).
Important
On 0.1.30 and the game won't start? The in-game updater can't run, so update by hand, either way works:
- run
tools\rexupdate\rexupdate.exein your game folder and click Update now, or - download
DimensionsRecompiled-Setup.exebelow and install over the same folder (your saves are kept).
Warning
AMD graphics cards and low-end PCs are a known problem right now. Expect low frame rates and stutter on weaker machines, and AMD-specific glitches. I'm doing my best to get both playable, but there's no ETA yet. Reports with a game.log help a lot.
Tip
Lagging with AMD FSR 1 or CAS? Set F4 → Graphics → Upscaling filter to Bilinear (fastest).
Found any problem? Please report it in Issues right away and attach your game.log.
0.1.30
Caution
Broken: the game does not start ("amd_fidelityfx_dx12.dll was not found"). Use 0.1.31 instead. Already on 0.1.30? Run tools\rexupdate\rexupdate.exe in your game folder, or install 0.1.31 over it.
What's new in 0.1.30
- No more crash right after finishing a level. Finishing some levels (for example Prime Time or Back to the Future!) crashed the game the moment the achievement unlocked. That's fixed.
- Fullscreen is much smoother. Fullscreen could run at half speed for the whole session, especially on portal/vortex loading screens, until you pressed Alt+Enter twice. The game now paces itself properly from the first frame, and it no longer stalls waiting on the monitor.
- Runs on older CPUs. Before, the game needed an AVX2 CPU (Intel Haswell / AMD Zen or newer) and silently closed on anything older. Now any 64-bit CPU from about 2009 onward works. Still needs to be tested out!
- AMD FSR 1 and CAS are back in F4 → Graphics → Upscaling filter.
- Crash dumps save properly. If the game crashes, a
crash-*.dmpappears next to the exe. Zip it and attach it with yourgame.log. - Updating is easier. Click Yes on the "Update available" popup and the game closes by itself, so the updater can install right away.
Warning
AMD graphics cards and low-end PCs are a known problem right now. On weaker machines (older CPUs, integrated graphics, handhelds) expect low frame rates and stutter. AMD cards have their own issues (black or missing world geometry, glitches that NVIDIA cards don't show). I'm doing my best to get both playable, but there's no ETA yet. Reports with a game.log help a lot.
Tip
Lagging with AMD FSR 1 or CAS? Set F4 → Graphics → Upscaling filter to Bilinear (fastest). On weaker GPUs the upscaler itself can cost frames.
Update from inside the game (F4 → Updates), or run rexupdate.exe.

0.1.29 (Unstable)
What's new in 0.1.29
- Crash dumps actually work now. Every
crash-*.dmpso far was 0 KB, so it had nothing in it. Dumps are smaller now and have real data. If the game crashes, zip the.dmpfrom the game folder and attach it with yourgame.log. - Freezes leave a dump too. When the game hangs (the music keeps playing but the picture stops), it writes
hang-*.dmpnext to the exe by itself. Please attach it. The log now also shows both threads in the lock, not just one. - New console command
dump. If the game is acting strange and doesn't write anything, open the console (`key), typedump, press Enter and attach thedump-*.dmpit writes.
Update from inside the game (F4 → Updates), or run rexupdate.exe.
Caution
Unstable. This is a beta. We test every release, but it hasn't had wide testing yet.
