@nikolanaidenko-eng nikolanaidenko-eng released this 31 Oct 16:37

Clouding Bar for Mac — Claude Code at a glance: on your Touch Bar, in a floating pill, or in the notch.

Install: download the .dmg, open it and drag Clouding Bar into Applications (replace the old one; your permissions and settings stay). Or from Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add nikolanaidenko-eng/clouding-bar, /plugin install clouding-bar@clouding-bar, /reload-plugins, then /clouding-bar:install. For Codex: the .dmg, then Settings → General → Codex → Connect. Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Universal (Apple silicon and Intel), macOS 12 or later. Already on 1.1.x or 1.2.x: the menu bar icon → Install Update.

What's new in 1.2.27

  • Cowork tasks on your Mac: Desktop stays where it is. If a task can't take your words yet, because it's asking you something or has text in its field, they wait in the queue, the widget says why, and Send Now no longer brings Desktop forward.
  • Words go sooner. The bar no longer mistakes what it just sent for text of yours, and tries again after 10 seconds instead of a minute. Still being tested.

What's new in 1.2.26

  • Cowork tasks on your Mac: sending and questions. The bar could lose sight of Claude Desktop's window for as long as it ran, and then neither words nor questions got through. It now keeps asking Desktop for it, and looks in all of Desktop's windows.
  • Switching tasks in Desktop's window. The bar finds a task's row by the link to that task. Still being tested.

@nikolanaidenko-eng nikolanaidenko-eng released this 31 Oct 13:18

What's new in 1.2.25

  • Cowork tasks on your Mac: context, cost and answers. The bar now finds the events of newer tasks, which Claude Desktop keeps in a folder with a shorter name.
  • Sending to those tasks. The bar waits longer for Desktop's Send button when its window is in the background, instead of leaving your words in the queue. While a task is working, words wait for its answer to end; Send Now sends them at once. This is still being tested.
  • Switching tasks in Desktop's window. Words can no longer go twice during a switch. The window stays where it is if the task it shows asks you something or has words in its field, and the bar only presses a row with exactly the task's name.
  • Screenshots. A screenshot to one of these tasks brings Desktop to the front. Settings, the tour and the README now say so.

@nikolanaidenko-eng nikolanaidenko-eng released this 31 Oct 12:48

What's new in 1.2.24

  • Cowork tasks that run on your Mac. They now show without signing in, read from Claude Desktop's own files: name, model, context, cost, working or done, and how the answer begins. Nothing leaves your Mac. Tasks on claude.ai work as before.
  • Sending to those tasks. Claude Desktop has no way in from outside, so words go through its window, which has to be open. It doesn't need to be in front. If it shows another task and you aren't using it, the bar switches it to yours. With the window closed, words wait in the queue. This is new and still being tested. Settings and the tour explain the limits.
  • A new tour. Five stops, one per tab, with a small block for each setting, lit up where it is.
  • Problem reports. After a crash or an error, a card offers a report, and Report a Problem… is in the menu anytime. Reports stay on your Mac until you read one, paste it into a public GitHub issue and submit it. The app sends nothing. Chats' names and words are left out.

Already on 1.1.x or 1.2.x: the menu bar icon → Install Update.

What's new in 1.2.23

  • Any screen. Drag the pill to any display. It stays there after a restart and comes back when that display is plugged in again. With a monitor above a MacBook, the area over the notch no longer pulls the pill back into it.
  • Resizing follows the pointer. Pulling the outline no longer jumps at the screen's edge or sticks after you let go, on the screen and in Settings → Widget.
  • A new tour. Five stops, one per tab, each explaining what's inside: General, Widget, Touch Bar, Buttons, Stats.
  • Accounts billed through the API. claude.ai refusing limit data no longer signs you out or stops everything else. There may be no limit to show, but sessions should keep working.
  • Accessibility is always in Settings, with its state and a button to open System Settings.

Clouding Bar for Mac — Claude Code at a glance: on your Touch Bar, in a floating pill, or in the notch.

Install: download the .dmg, open it and drag Clouding Bar into Applications (replace the old one; your permissions and settings stay). Or from Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add wvnikola/clouding-bar, /plugin install clouding-bar@clouding-bar, /reload-plugins, then /clouding-bar:install. For Codex: the .dmg, then Settings → General → Codex → Connect. Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Universal (Apple silicon and Intel), macOS 12 or later. Already on 1.1.x or 1.2.x: the menu bar icon → Install Update.

What's new in 1.2.22

  • Resize on screen again. Pull the outline of the widget or the notch right where it is, as well as in Settings → Widget. Items are still rearranged in Settings only, so a stray drag rearranges nothing. A click on the outline opens the panel.

Already on 1.1.x or 1.2.x: the menu bar icon → Install Update.

What's new in 1.2.21

  • A warning before the claude.ai sign-in. Anthropic's terms don't allow third-party apps to collect or store claude.ai session keys, or to reach claude.ai automatically, so signing in goes against them and could put your account at risk. The sign-in window now says so first and loads nothing until you press I Understand. If you're already signed in, you'll be asked once whether to stay signed in. Without the sign-in everything else keeps working, except Cowork tasks, claude.ai chats, the account-wide limit and sending to Claude Desktop or Terminal chats through Remote Control without switching windows.

Details, including how the app identifies itself to claude.ai: docs/privacy.md.

Already on 1.1.x or 1.2.x: the menu bar icon → Install Update.

What's new in 1.2.20

  • Cowork in Stats. Tokens and active time of Cowork tasks are counted again, from each task's card on claude.ai. A task's earlier use is counted when the app first reads it (tasks active in the last half hour), at the hour the task began.
  • Codex is out of beta.
  • MIT license. Clouding Bar is now under the MIT license, from this version on.
  • A shorter README. The details moved to docs/, including everything the app reads and sends: docs/privacy.md.

What's new in 1.2.19

Cowork

  • Your messages show in the chat. Words sent from the widget or the bar reach a Cowork task at once, whatever window is in front, and appear in its chat as if typed there. (A picture reaches Claude too, but doesn't show in the chat yet.)
  • New tasks work right away. A task just started in Claude Desktop is recognised at once, not minutes later.
  • Cloud wakes and says done. A Cowork task's state now comes from claude.ai itself: Cloud wakes when it works, its questions and permissions reach the bar, and "done" comes with the start of the answer, even after a reply of a few seconds, and when you wrote in Claude Desktop.
  • The real context window and cost. A task's context is shown of the window it really has (1M showed as 200k on some accounts), and its cost on API-billed accounts.
  • One question card. A task's question shows once, with its description, instead of twice.

Chats

  • Plain claude.ai chats take words without a window (Chrome, Claude Desktop's Chat tab). If claude.ai refuses, they wait and are typed when the chat is in front, as before.
  • Words only where you meant. Send now no longer types into another chat open in the same VS Code window: without its name in the window's title, the message stays in the queue.
  • A screenshot waiting in the queue now goes as a picture, not as a file path. With no connection, a message goes back to the queue instead of being lost.

The widget

  • Opens on a click only, no more opening on hover.
  • Arranged in Settings only. On screen it just moves, so a stray drag rearranges nothing. Settings → Widget takes the swaps, the items' edges, the panel's blocks and now the outline: pull it to size the pill, and the new Notch tab to size the notch.
  • A gear in the panel opens Settings.
  • With a monitor above, the notch no longer casts its shape onto that monitor.

What the app reads and sends from claude.ai is listed in the README, under "Private by design".
