GlideDeck 0.1.6 — Carousel, parallax and a better presenter view

Choose a tag to compare

@nirlotan nirlotan released this 21 Oct 14:59

GlideDeck 0.1.6

Carousel with parallax, a working presenter view on one screen, speaker notes where you expect them, and updates from inside the app.

Install

  • Windows 10/11 (x64): download GlideDeck-0.1.6-x64.msi below and run it. It upgrades earlier versions in place. GlideDeck-x64.msi is the same file under a name that never changes.
  • macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel): download GlideDeck-0.1.6.dmg below, open it and drag GlideDeck into Applications. The universal app and DMG are Developer ID-signed, and the DMG is notarized by Apple with the ticket stapled.

The MSI is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn. Choose More info → Run anyway.

New

  • Carousel template. Seven slides on frosted glass cards glide past side by side. Behind them, aurora glows, rings and sparks drift at three different depths (parallax). Every slide builds in as it arrives.
  • Carousel arrangement (Design → Arrange). It turns any deck, including an imported PowerPoint, into the same gliding carousel, with a parallax backdrop and smooth sideways transitions.
  • Parallax for any object. Set it in Properties → Layout → Depth.
    • Far objects drift slower than the slides; near ones move faster.
    • The effect fades away in overviews, so the layout reads as designed.
  • Speaker notes panel under the canvas, like PowerPoint. It shows the current slide's notes, supports Markdown, and has toggles in View and Present.
  • About GlideDeck (the ⓘ button, or File → About) shows the version and links to GitHub.
  • Check for updates (File → Check for updates).
    • It finds a newer release on GitHub and downloads the installer for your system to your Downloads folder: the .msi on Windows, the .dmg on macOS.
    • Install now upgrades GlideDeck in place.
    • This is the only time GlideDeck goes online.
  • A new welcome canvas, with two new 2026 themes.
    • Dusk: deep violet with aurora accents.
    • Cloud: warm white with teal and coral.
    • The welcome canvas uses Dusk, with glass cards, parallax glows, animations, varied camera moves and speaker notes.

Fixed

  • Presenter view on one screen. The audience window used to open on top of the presenter console and hide your notes. Now, with a single display, the console runs the show in its NOW pane, so your notes, the next slide and the timer stay visible. Open audience window adds a slides-only window when you need one. With two displays, the show still goes fullscreen on the second one automatically.

For Claude and GitHub Copilot

  • arrange_slides accepts carousel, and the carousel template is in catalog.
  • New set_notes tool for speaker notes. get_presentation now returns each slide's notes.
  • update_elements accepts parallax.
  • The server instructions and the skill recommend:
    • the carousel for linear decks and imported PowerPoint files;
    • speaker notes on every slide.

GlideDeck 0.1.5 — In-slide animations and new camera moves

Choose a tag to compare

@nirlotan nirlotan released this 15 Oct 17:29

GlideDeck 0.1.5

Animations: objects appear, take the spotlight and leave, plus five new camera moves.

Install

  • Windows 10/11 (x64): download GlideDeck-0.1.5-x64.msi below and run it. It upgrades earlier versions in place. GlideDeck-x64.msi is the same file.
  • macOS (Apple Silicon): the DMG linked from the README is still 0.1.3; it doesn't include animations yet.

This preview MSI is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn. Choose More info → Run anyway.

New: in-slide animations (the Animate tab)

  • Appear: Fade, Rise, Focus (settles in like a lens pulling focus), Zoom, Pop, Drop (with a bounce), Fly in, Spin, Typewriter, Word by word and Count up. Count up runs the numbers in a text from zero and keeps their format ($12,400, 87.5%).
  • Emphasis: Spotlight (dims everything else), Highlight (a marker sweeps behind the words, line by line), Underline, Color pop, Pulse, Glow and Wiggle.
  • Disappear: Fade out, Sink, Zoom out, Fly out and Shrink.
  • Start each animation on a click, with the previous one, or after it, with its own duration and delay. When several objects are selected, they can animate one by one or all together.
  • Auto-animate gives a slide a tasteful entrance cascade in reading order: titles focus, text rises, numbers count up, icons pop and pictures zoom. It plays as the camera arrives. One click does one slide; Auto-animate all slides does the whole deck.
  • Numbered badges on the canvas show the click order: green for appear, amber for emphasis, red for disappear. Preview plays the slide's animations right in the editor.
  • Properties → Animation edits each animation. The slide's card lists them in order, with buttons to reorder and remove. The slide strip shows how many objects animate on each slide.
  • In the show: each click plays the next animation before moving on, and a second press finishes a running one. Going back takes the last animation back. The presenter console counts the animations still to go.

New camera moves (the Transitions tab)

  • Swoop: a sideways arc with a gentle roll.
  • Spin: a smooth zoom with a barrel roll.
  • Punch: overshoots the zoom, then settles.
  • Fade: dips through the background to the next slide.

These join Smooth zoom, Direct and Cut.

For Claude and GitHub Copilot

  • Four new MCP tools:
    • animate adds appear, emphasis and disappear builds by element id;
    • auto_animate gives slides an entrance cascade;
    • set_transitions sets one style, or cycles a list such as ["smooth", "swoop", "punch"];
    • clear_animations removes them.
  • catalog lists the effects and transitions, and get_presentation shows each slide's animations and transition.
  • The server instructions and the skill now tell the assistant to make every deck stand out:
    • shape the path with arrange_slides;
    • vary the camera moves;
    • auto-animate the slides, then spotlight or highlight the key moments.
  • In JSON operations, update_step accepts builds.

GlideDeck 0.1.4 — Arrange slides

Choose a tag to compare

@nirlotan nirlotan released this 15 Oct 16:47

GlideDeck 0.1.4

Arrange slides: turn any deck, including an imported PowerPoint, into a zooming story.

Install

  • Windows 10/11 (x64): download GlideDeck-0.1.4-x64.msi below and run it. It upgrades earlier versions in place. GlideDeck-x64.msi is the same file.
  • macOS (Apple Silicon): the DMG linked from the README is still 0.1.3; it doesn't include Arrange slides yet.

This preview MSI is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn. Choose More info → Run anyway.

New

  • Arrange slides (Design → Arrange, or the path button above the slide list) moves every slide into a new layout and path. Each slide's content moves and turns with it, and the order is kept.
    • Spiral: winds outward, slides turning with the curve.
    • Orbits: the first slide at the center, the rest on rings.
    • Sunflower: golden-angle seeds; every step swings around the center.
    • Ring: one circle, the camera spinning around it.
    • Honeycomb: hex rings spiralling out.
    • Journey and Wave: meandering and sine-wave roads that wrap into rows.
    • Staircase: climbing in switchback flights.
    • Tree: branches like an org chart, visited branch by branch.
    • Zoom tunnel: each slide nested inside the previous one.
    • Snake and Grid: rows.
  • Works for any number of slides. Every layout is a formula, and is tested to never overlap slides, from 1 slide up to 120.
  • Options: spacing, turning slides along the path (the show's camera turns with them), a dotted trail (tree lines for Tree), and an overview at the start and end.
  • Live previews: the dialog draws every arrangement for your actual number of slides. One step to undo.
  • After a PowerPoint import, GlideDeck suggests arranging the slides.
  • CLI and MCP: glidedeck arrange deck.glide.json --layout orbits, and an arrange_slides tool for Claude and Copilot (listed in catalog).

GlideDeck 0.1.3 — PowerPoint import, PDF export, presenter view

Choose a tag to compare

@nirlotan nirlotan released this 13 Oct 10:15

GlideDeck 0.1.3

Import PowerPoint, export PDF, presenter view on a second screen, and rich text.

Install (Windows 10/11, x64)

Download GlideDeck-0.1.3-x64.msi below and run it. It upgrades earlier versions in place. GlideDeck-x64.msi is the same file.

This preview MSI is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn. Choose More info → Run anyway.

New

  • Import PowerPoint (File → Import PowerPoint, or open or drop a .pptx):
    • every slide becomes a frame, laid out in a grid and in order on the path;
    • brought over: text with its formatting, shapes, pictures, slide backgrounds, master logos and lines, and speaker notes;
    • placeholders inherit positions, sizes and bullets from the layout and master;
    • tables, charts and SmartArt are listed as skipped.
  • Export PDF (File → Export PDF, or Present → PDF): one page per slide, rendered exactly as in the show.
  • File → Open recent: the last 10 documents you opened, saved or imported.
  • Presenter view:
    • with a second display, F5 puts the show fullscreen on the projector;
    • your screen shows the live slide, the next slide, speaker notes, a timer and the clock, plus black and white screen (B/W) and Swap displays;
    • Alt+F5 opens it on a single display, with the audience view in its own window;
    • glidedeck present FILE --presenter-view opens a deck straight into the show.
  • Rich text:
    • bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, colour and size for any word or phrase;
    • a floating format bar while editing on the canvas, plus Ctrl/⌘+B/I/U, Ctrl/⌘+Shift+X, Ctrl/⌘+] and [, and Ctrl/⌘+;
    • formatting exports to PowerPoint and survives pasting from it.
  • Text wrap handles: drag a text box's side handles to change its width; the text reflows without scaling. Shapes and frames can be stretched from any side.
  • CLI and MCP: glidedeck import-pptx and glidedeck export-pdf, plus import_pptx and export_pdf tools for Claude and Copilot. update_elements accepts markdown: true for bold and italic.

Fixed

  • Delete / Backspace sometimes did nothing after editing text on the canvas.
  • Resize cursors now point along each corner's diagonal, and stay correct while dragging.
  • Drawing a frame keeps its starting corner in place instead of growing around its center.

GlideDeck 0.1.2 — MCP server for Claude and Copilot

Choose a tag to compare

@nirlotan nirlotan released this 13 Oct 09:15

GlideDeck 0.1.2

Let Claude and GitHub Copilot build your presentations.

Install (Windows 10/11, x64)

  1. Download GlideDeck-0.1.2-x64.msi below and run it. It upgrades earlier versions in place. GlideDeck-x64.msi is the same file; the README's download button always points to the latest one.
  2. Open a terminal in the folder where you want your presentations and run glidedeck agent-setup.
  3. Ask your assistant for a presentation. The full guide is in docs/AI.md.

This preview MSI is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn. Choose More info → Run anyway.

New

  • MCP server (glidedeck mcp), built in and local-only, with 15 tools:
    • create from any of the 17 templates;
    • add any of the 20 layouts with their text and icons filled in;
    • update text, icons and colours; add text and images; change the theme; remove slides;
    • render slides to PNG so the assistant can check its work;
    • export to PowerPoint, save a copy, and open the project in the editor.
  • Agent skill (SKILL.md) that teaches Claude and Copilot a good workflow: plan the story, choose a template, replace every placeholder, and render and check each slide.
  • glidedeck agent-setup installs the skill and registers the server for Claude Code, Copilot CLI and VS Code in one step. It merges into existing config files and keeps your other servers. --user sets it up for all projects.
  • Everything the assistant builds is a regular .glide.json GlideDeck project you can open, edit and present later.

GlideDeck 0.1.1 — preview

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@nirlotan nirlotan released this 12 Oct 16:21

GlideDeck 0.1.1

More templates and layouts, a fix for faded images, and pasting from PowerPoint.

Install (Windows 10/11, x64)

  1. Download GlideDeck-0.1.1-x64.msi below and run it. It upgrades 0.1.0 in place.
  2. (Optional, for video) install FFmpeg: winget install Gyan.FFmpeg.

This preview MSI is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn. Choose More info → Run anyway.

New

  • 17 templates (was 5), grouped by Business, Storytelling, Ideas & maps and Teaching. The 12 new ones use structures only a zooming canvas can do:
    • Orbit: planets around a sun.
    • Summit: camps up a mountain.
    • Roadmap: quarters × teams.
    • Hive: a honeycomb.
    • Deep dive: slides nested in portholes.
    • Showcase: a bento grid of slides.
    • Branches: a tree of topics.
    • Spiral: slides along a spiral.
    • Cycle: a turning wheel.
    • Mood board: tilted polaroids.
    • Workshop: sticky notes.
    • Chapters: a bookshelf.
  • 20 slide layouts (was 8). New: Comparison, Quadrants, Bento grid, Dashboard, Team, Hub & spokes, Cycle, Venn, Pyramid, Process, Staircase and Winding road.
  • Template and layout galleries are now grouped and scrollable, and template previews show each story's overview.
  • Paste from PowerPoint (Windows): copied shapes arrive as editable text boxes, rectangles, ellipses and pictures, keeping their layout, fonts and colours.
  • Ctrl/⌘+Shift+V pastes the clipboard's text as plain text, even when a picture came with it.
  • glidedeck new --template accepts all 17 templates.

Fixed

  • Images and videos rendered at about half opacity regardless of their Opacity setting. They now draw at full strength, and rounded image corners work as intended.
