Release list
Textida 0.1.5
Textida 0.1.5 is the first release that is not marked as a preview. The full list of changes is in CHANGELOG.md.
- Updates: Textida checks for a new version after start and once a day, and a "New version" item in the status bar installs it. The download shows its progress with Cancel. It resumes after a stall, every failure names its reason, and a notice after the restart confirms the update. The check fetches only the signed feed, and the setting
updates.checkOnStartturns it off. - PDF printing embeds a subset of the system font: the text is Unicode, searchable and copyable, and right-to-left lines are shaped. Highlighted text also exports as LaTeX for pdfTeX, XeTeX and LuaTeX.
- The AI context copy counts OpenAI tokens exactly offline (
o200k_base). - The TextMate import converts
begin/whilerules, begin and end captures, possessive quantifiers,\G,\R,\K, POSIX classes, nested and intersected classes, and back-references inend. - Mermaid flowcharts draw subgraphs and the stadium, hexagon, cylinder and parallelogram shapes. The Python outline follows nesting under
if,try, withandfor. - With incremental sync, a language server receives one range per changed block. A change inside
\r\nno longer puts the server's copy out of step. - A large file reports the line endings of the whole file, and the minimap marks a large insertion completely.
- Text in the light and dark themes reaches 4.5:1 contrast. The toolbar is one Tab stop with arrow-key navigation, and the accessibility text surface no longer reads the whole document per keystroke.
- Security fixes:
- Git status runs no program from a repository's configuration.
- Saving keeps the file mode, and temporary files are owner-only.
- Linux IPC folders are private.
- Elevated reads and saves on Windows, macOS and Linux use folders created by the administrator or root.
- The update feed carries an expiry date.
- FTPS through an HTTP proxy works on macOS and Linux. On a busy machine, the first tool call over MCP/HTTP no longer times out.
The signed update feed now expires 90 days after it is signed. Builds before 0.1.5 ignore the date.
Windows 10 22H2 / 11 x64: use TextidaSetup-0.1.5-win-x64.exe for a per-user installation, or unpack Textida-0.1.5-win-x64.zip. No administrator rights are needed. The installer has no publisher certificate yet, so SmartScreen can warn.
macOS 14 or newer: use the osx-arm64 DMG for Apple silicon or osx-x64 for Intel, and drag Textida to Applications. The bundles are signed ad hoc and are not notarized, so the first start may need approval in Privacy & Security.
Linux preview, Debian 12 / Ubuntu 22.04 or newer: run sudo apt install ./textida_0.1.5_amd64.deb for x64 or textida_0.1.5_arm64.deb for ARM64. The tar archives include install.sh for an installation into ~/.local.
Checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt. The ECDSA-signed feed.json records the update archive size and SHA-256 for each platform.
Source: d7840b1f437fee4b197ea00b21a791dc91e7f728. Build, native smoke and no-network checks passed on win-x64, osx-arm64, osx-x64, linux-x64 and linux-arm64. The test suites passed on the Windows test VM (Core, Rpc, App and the plugin, setup, remote and accessibility projects). On macOS the Rpc suite passed; of the Core and App failures on macOS, all but one were already present in 0.1.4. The new one is a minimap-drag performance test that counts grammar runs, and all of them are tracked.
Textida 0.1.4
Textida 0.1.4 is a preview release.
- Linux ARM64 (aarch64) packages are included alongside Linux x64. Both have a
.deband a.tar.gz; Linux GUI checks run under Xvfb. - Markdown previews, headings, table commands and the generated table of contents use the same parser. Nested lists, numbering, code fences, escapes, combined emphasis and headings such as
C#retain their meaning. - Switching Markdown modes retains the scroll position and selection. Table formatting preserves line endings and supports Undo as one edit.
- Preview parsing runs outside the UI thread. Superseded results cannot replace a newer revision. Limits on nesting, generated table cells and visual elements show a reason and the source instead of an incomplete preview.
- Image checks reject paths through links below the document folder, handle malformed BMP dimensions and bound decoded height as well as width. Remote images still require consent.
- The signed update feed requires packages for all five platform targets.
Windows 10 22H2 / 11 x64: use TextidaSetup-0.1.4-win-x64.exe for a per-user installation, or unpack Textida-0.1.4-win-x64.zip. No administrator rights are needed. The installer has no publisher certificate yet; SmartScreen can warn.
macOS 14 or newer: use the osx-arm64 DMG for Apple silicon or osx-x64 for Intel. Drag Textida to Applications. These bundles are signed ad hoc and are not notarized; the first start may require approval in Privacy & Security.
Linux preview, Debian 12 / Ubuntu 22.04 or newer: choose textida_0.1.4_amd64.deb for x64 or textida_0.1.4_arm64.deb for ARM64 and run sudo apt install ./<package.deb>. The matching tar archives include install.sh for installation into ~/.local.
Checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt. The ECDSA-signed feed.json records the update archive size and SHA-256 for each platform.
Source: 9e2cbe7860e0f9ce0dd55038372630fb3eebe088. Build and native smoke checks.
Verified on the Windows test VM: fresh installation, upgrade from 0.1.3, uninstallation retaining settings, and the native installer window. The existing user installation and process were preserved. Markdown regression tests: 266/266; the six native Markdown checks also passed on every release target.
Textida 0.1.3
Preview release of Textida for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Statistics now read at most 32 KiB per document request. This keeps the RPC buffers and decoded text below .NET's large-object allocation threshold. The update feed continues to use the signing key introduced in 0.1.1.
On a Windows 11 VM, the published native plugin processed the 2 GiB test file with a peak private commit of 17.05 MiB, below the 64 MiB limit; cancellation completed in 21 ms. The 0.1.1 plugin reached 76.25 MiB on this fixture. The lower memory use comes with a slower scan: 47.6 seconds versus 34.7 seconds. This is a 2 GiB verification, not a completed 10 GiB performance gate.

The Windows installer runs for the current user without administrator rights. Windows SmartScreen can warn because the program has no Authenticode publisher signature.
Install manually when upgrading from 0.1.0: that build had no update feed or public key configured. Version 0.1.1 and later can use the signed feed.
The macOS apps have ad-hoc signatures and are not notarized. Install this preview manually; automatic macOS updates require a signed, notarized bundle. Intel startup checks run under Rosetta.
Linux packages are a preview. Use apt for installations managed by apt; the tar.gz contains install.sh for a per-user installation.
All four NativeAOT packages passed startup and bundled-plugin checks in the release build. The macOS startup check now waits for queued focus changes and verifies both the Avalonia focus and the native accessibility focus.
The actual Windows installer passed clean installation, upgrade from 0.1.1, application startup and uninstallation on Windows 11 Pro 22H2. Installation checks used an isolated SYSTEM profile; application startup and the installer window ran in an interactive user session. The profile contents were preserved, and the existing user's installation was unchanged. Windows 10 installation has not yet been verified.
Textida 0.1.1
Preview release of Textida for Windows, macOS and Linux.
This release adds a signed update feed for all four package targets, atomic Windows update switches, and recovery after an interrupted version switch. Settings migrations reject a rollback that would lose settings, including unknown keys.
