Noah for Tinkerers v2.0.0
Noah for Tinkerers is the open-source, bring-your-own-key build of Noah — a desktop agent that fixes your computer in plain English, with a safety harness around every action. You bring an Anthropic API key; Noah talks to Claude directly from your machine. No account, no backend.
Highlights
- Bring your own key, no backend — your key stays on your machine; the only thing that leaves is the conversation with Claude.
- A real safety harness — read-only diagnostics first, an explicit plan, approval gates on risky commands, and a hard-deny floor that permanently refuses catastrophic operations (wiping your home folder or keychains, erasing a disk) — even if asked. How the harness works ›
- Every command explains itself — Noah can't propose a shell command without a plain-English reason, enforced at the schema level.
- 26 playbooks — Markdown remediation procedures (disk recovery, network diagnostics, printer repair, and more). Drop in your own; no rebuild, no plugin API.
- Monochrome, technical UI and the wrench mark — the open build's own identity.
- AGPL-3.0, built in public.
