BasicResults 1.0.1

Choose a tag to compare

@nsmela nsmela released this 17 Sep 04:29

Documentation release. The library's code is unchanged from 1.0.0.

The README, which is also this package's page on nuget.org, has been rewritten for people installing the package:

  • Self-contained examples that compile with C# 7.3, the default for .NET Framework projects.
  • Platform support stated as .NET 5+, .NET Core 2.0+ and .NET Framework 4.7.2+, with the tests noted as running on .NET 8.
  • A note that the implicit value-to-Result<T> conversion does not apply when T is an interface; use Result.Success(value) there.
  • The .NET 8 SDK prerequisite for building from source.

BasicResults 1.0.0

@nsmela nsmela released this 17 Sep 04:18

First release. Three small value types for modelling failure and absence without exceptions or nulls:

  • Error: a stable code and a human-readable description, compared by value.
  • Result and Result<T>: success or failure. They convert implicitly from a value or an Error, and chain with Map and Bind.
  • Maybe<T>: an optional value with structural equality, and ToResult for when it becomes required.

Targets netstandard2.0 with no dependencies. Tested on .NET 8.
