Tinta v3.5.6

Markdown, distilled. Expanded native LaTeX math support, with regression coverage for equations inside everyday Markdown.

Thank you @glance02 for opening #190 and sharing the matrix example that prompted this release.

Installation

  • Easiest: winget install "Tinta Markdown Viewer" -s msstore (Store-signed, no security prompts, auto-updates), or the Microsoft Store page
  • Portable: download tinta.exe below and run it (SmartScreen may ask: "More info", then "Run anyway")
  • Optionally run tinta.exe /register to register Markdown and Mermaid files

Matrices and multiline math (#190)

  • Matrix variants, nested cells, column alignment and scalable delimiters
  • Cases, aligned and gathered equations, arrays with rules, and long arrows

More native LaTeX notation (#190)

  • Indexed roots, binomial coefficients, continued fractions and operator limits
  • Stacked annotations, labelled arrows, additional accents and symbols, and mathematical alphabets
  • Explicit delimiter sizes and spacing, plus equation-local macros and custom operators
  • Uses installed Cambria Math when available, with the theme font as fallback; no font files or web engine are bundled
  • See the math compatibility guide for supported syntax and remaining limitations

Mixed Markdown coverage (#190)

  • 49 fixture equations checked alongside headings, tables, lists, links, emphasis, quotes, callouts, code and Mermaid
  • Native viewer, print-page and HTML checks, including narrow windows and light/dark themes

Fixed

  • Math text retains spaces, fraction styles differ correctly, and limits, negative spacing and mathematical alphabets follow their intended layout (#190)
  • Tall inline equations reserve enough vertical space to avoid overlap; spacing is currently expanded uniformly across their paragraph (#190)
  • Inline math preserves highlight and strikethrough spans, link colors and clickable link areas; HTML math inherits surrounding colors (#190)

What's included

  • Export as HTML, DOCX, or PDF, plus optional Pandoc formats
  • 22 natively rendered Mermaid diagram families
  • Tabbed interface with drag, session restore, and a tab context menu
  • 10 tuned themes (5 light, 5 dark) plus custom themes
  • Hardware-accelerated rendering via Direct2D
  • Single portable executable about 2.3 MB, no dependencies
