Monologue 0.3.1

@dhh dhh released this 07 Oct 09:25
  • If Monologue crashes or is killed with a take open, the next launch reopens that take in the editor, as long as it was recorded within the past hour. Older leftovers are cleared away. Edits and pause marks from before the crash aren't kept.
  • Infrared face-login sensors no longer show up as extra cameras in the camera menu.
  • Double-clicking to split a clip now snaps only to pause marks.
  • Saving into Monologue's own working folder is refused, since takes there are deleted when you leave them.
  • Running two Monologue windows at once no longer risks one treating the other's take as interrupted.

  • A take now exists only while you're working on it. Starting a new recording or quitting deletes it, and if you haven't saved it since your last change, Monologue asks first and offers to save. The Recordings history is gone.
  • Quitting in the middle of a take offers to keep recording, stop and edit, or discard it and quit.
  • Nothing covers your video while Monologue works. When you stop, the picture holds on the take's last frame while a strip in the timeline's place shows it finishing. Save fills with its own progress.
  • Playback no longer flashes black when it reaches the end of the recording.
  • The timeline is cleaner: clip frames sit flush on the filmstrip at any display scale, pause marks no longer peek out beside a handle after a split, and the playhead stays on the clip's own frames when you drag its start.
  • The microphone level line under the live video is thicker and easier to see.

Monologue 0.2.0

  • Stopping a take now opens it straight in a built-in editor. The take appears as clips on a filmstrip, each with trim handles. Double-click a clip to split it, drag its handles to trim, double-click a gap to bring it back, or hover a clip and click × to remove it. Pause points are marked on the filmstrip, and there is undo.
  • Playback skips anything you cut. Saving an edited take re-encodes just the clips you kept; an unedited take is still copied as-is. Your original recording is never changed, and your edits are kept with it.
  • A simpler window: the camera fills the frame, and a round shutter sits in the middle. Press it to record and again to stop, with a pause button beside it. Space still records, pauses and resumes.
  • A new app icon.
  • Open in Omacut is gone, since trimming is now built in.
