1944 Recomp v1.0.0
1944: The Loop Master — native PC port
A native port of 1944: The Loop Master (Capcom / Raizing, 2000, CPS-2), made
by static recompilation with
cps2recomp. The game's 68000 and Z80
programs are translated ahead of time into C++ and run on a small machine
written for it — no emulator. No game data is in this release.
What you need
Your own 1944: The Loop Master ROM set — the MAME set 1944,
Europe 000620. The port only reads it, and uses the key from the set as the
board does. The launcher asks where the set is on first start.

Running it
Windows — unzip it and run 1944-launcher.exe, keeping the .dll
files beside it: choose your ROM set, set the controls, Play. README.txt
inside the archive says the same.
Steam Deck and Linux — chmod +x the AppImage and run it, or unpack the
.tar.gz and run ./1944-launcher. On the Deck, add the AppImage in Desktop
Mode (right-click → Add to Steam) and it shows up in Game Mode. SDL 3 is
built into the programs and they take X11 or Wayland from the system, so the
only thing they ask for is glibc 2.34 or newer — every SteamOS from 3.4
on, and every desktop Linux since 2022.
A game is started with a coin — Insert coin in the in-game menu (Esc or
F1). The menu also holds save states, Reset, Player 2 joins and Quit.
What's in this build
- The 68000, and the sound ROM's fixed part, translated ahead of time and
checked against the interpreter (make check) — nothing of the game's own
code is left running in the interpreter. - Capcom's QSound through the toolkit's sound machine.
- Save states, pause, frame advance, slow motion and speed control; key and
button remapping; the display options (whole pixels, 4:3 / square pixels /
full screen); the launcher and in-game menu the recomp ports share.
Known limits
- This first build carries the toolkit's own features. Free play, cheats and a
practice mode come later — seeROADMAP.mdin the source. - macOS is still to come.
Not included
No ROM set, no keys, no BIOS, no game artwork. Bring your own ROM set — the
port only reads it. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Capcom.
