imf-reader 2.3.0 leaves logging configuration to the application that imports it.
Logging
imf_reader used to give its logger a stderr handler at INFO and turn propagation off, so applications that configure logging at the root, such as Dagster, never received its records and could not set their level or format. Importing imf_reader now sets no handlers or levels, and its loggers propagate to the root. An application that configures nothing sees only warnings and errors. To see progress messages:
import logging
logging.basicConfig()
logging.getLogger("imf_reader").setLevel(logging.INFO)The SDR "Fetching latest date" message is now DEBUG, and fetch_allocations_holdings no longer changes the logger's level while it looks up the latest month.
Deprecated
imf_reader.config.logger is deprecated and will be removed in 3.0. Until then, WEO and SDR modules log through the imf_reader.config logger, so code that configures it by name keeps working. In 3.0 each module logs under its own name, so configure imf_reader instead.
