Unofficial macOS driver for the Rane SL1 (Serato Scratch Live) – more robust: Deck 2 never replays old timecode, and every stream is watched.
What's new
- 🐕 Watchdog checks all four streams (Input 1/2, Line 1/2): if one of them stops, the SL1 is reopened on the same timeline – before, only Input 1 was watched.
- 🔇 No stale timecode on Deck 2: if Input 2 lags or stops, it reads silence instead of replaying ~0.37 s of old data.
- ⚡ Apps don't wait while a hung SL1 is being reopened (property queries no longer take the driver lock).
- 🛡️ Safer stop path and a missing NULL check.
Tested (MacBook Air M4, macOS 27, Mixxx 2.6.0-beta, two turntables)
- Unplug/replug during playback: driver audio back 0.3 s after plugging in, 0 errors
- Start Mixxx without the SL1, plug in later: audio after 0.33 s
- Sleep/wake with Mixxx running: sound back right after wake
- Applying sound settings 8× in a row: no hang
- Simulated Input 2 drop-out: silence instead of old data, automatic restart
- 15 min continuous timecode on both decks: ~906 000 packets per input, 0 errors, 0 late accesses
Install
Download OpenSL1-0.1.3.pkg below and open it – it replaces older versions. If macOS blocks it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. To remove the driver, open OpenSL1-Uninstall-0.1.3.pkg. Compare the files with SHA256SUMS.txt if you want to be sure.
Known issues
- Plugging the Mac's charger in or out can make the SL1 drop off USB; sometimes it stays away until replugged (plug the charger in before the set).
- After a replug, Mixxx needs a few seconds to lock onto the timecode again.
- Mixxx may keep a held record running for a moment – the driver delivers silence immediately, this happens in Mixxx's timecode decoder.
Use at your own risk – this is an unofficial hobby project, provided “as is” without warranty. Full list: CHANGELOG.
