OES is a platform for building line-of-business applications: stock, accounting, payroll, sales. This wiki is the user's guide: what the platform is, how to install and build it, how to make a first application, and how the parts fit together.
Getting started
- Introduction: what OES is, and the words used throughout
- Installation: download a build and start it
- Building from source: build it yourself on Windows, Linux or macOS
- First steps: a small stock application, from an empty base to a report
Working in the designer
- The designer: the window, the menus, saving and running
- The metadata tree: every kind of object a configuration is made of
- Forms: what the user sees, and how it is bound to data
- Modules and the language: where code lives and what it looks like
- Queries and reports: reading data back
Running it
- Application server: serving bases without a window
- How the platform is built: programs, libraries, databases
- Pitfalls: what goes wrong, and what to do
- Nightly build: the current platform for Windows, Linux and macOS
- README: the feature list
- docs/: building, architecture, how changes are made
- Building a configuration with an assistant
- Issues: bugs and requests
OES is source-available, not open source, under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0. Studying it, evaluating it (including a business deciding whether to build on it) and any noncommercial use are free. Earning money from it needs a license.
