Description

This PR fixes vector config generation where fields configured with $ were expecting and environment variable. Instead it now escapes $ with $$.

I think this would be cleaner and easier to read using Sprintf

I will need to rebase my changes on these, once merged. I can have another swing at the codebase then, in case we find anything missing.
