Labaro 0.30.0

Choose a tag to compare

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 27 Oct 17:22

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new in 0.30.0

Added

  • Each service's links can open in a Chrome profile of your choosing,
    rather than in whichever browser window is in front, so a link from a
    work service lands in the profile signed in to your work account. Turn
    on Settings → Advanced → Link services to Chrome profiles, then pick a
    browser and profile under Browser in a service's Edit window. "Active
    window" keeps the usual behaviour, and email and app links (such as
    Zoom's) open as they always have. If the chosen profile has since been
    deleted from Chrome, links open in the active window instead.

Install

  1. Download Labaro.zip below and unzip it.
  2. Drag Labaro into Applications.
  3. Right-click Labaro, choose Open, and confirm. Only needed the first time, since the app isn't notarized yet.

If macOS says the app is damaged, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Labaro.app in Terminal and open it again.

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 26 Oct 21:34

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new in 0.29.3

Added

  • A Slack service's Edit window has a Team field, with .slack.com
    after it, for the workspace it opens on. Setting it opens the service
    on that workspace's own address, still signed in. Left empty, Slack
    asks which workspace to sign in to, as before. A team can also be set
    while adding a Slack service.

Install

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 26 Oct 20:48

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new in 0.29.2

Fixed

  • The X icon in the sidebar is no longer nearly black when X is disabled
    or asleep. It's now X's logo in the same grey as the other icons. An X
    already in the sidebar gets the new icon the next time Labaro starts.

Install

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

Changed

  • Nothing changes in the app itself. This version only changes a tool
    used while developing Labaro.

Install

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 25 Oct 06:42

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new in 0.29.0

Added

  • Focus mode stops Labaro from interrupting you. While it's on, Labaro
    shows no notifications in macOS's Notification Center, and hides the
    unread badges on the sidebar icons, on the menu bar icon and its menu,
    and on the Dock icon. Turn it on or off with the bell icon above the
    "+" at the bottom of the sidebar, or with Tools → Focus Mode, which
    reads "Disable Focus Mode" while it's on. The bell turns violet with a
    slash through it while focus mode is on. Right-click the bell to turn
    focus mode on for 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes, or for an hour; it turns
    itself off when the time is up, and hovering over the bell shows until
    when. Services are still checked for new messages meanwhile, so the
    badges are up to date when focus mode ends, and notifications held back
    are still listed in Tools → Notifications. Focus mode is always off when
    Labaro starts.

Install

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 22 Oct 21:36

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new since 0.28.0

0.28.2

Added

  • A View menu, after Edit, with Full Screen (⌃⌥⌘F), Maximize and
    Minimize (⌘M), for whichever Labaro window is in front. Maximize fills
    the screen, and choosing it again puts the window back as it was.
    Full Screen's shortcut replaces macOS's usual ⌃⌘F, which no longer
    does anything in Labaro.

0.28.1

Changed

  • Checking a sleeping WhatsApp for unread messages finishes sooner when
    there's nothing unread: about 14 seconds instead of 20, since Labaro
    now stops once WhatsApp has finished catching up rather than always
    waiting the full time. The check uses about 1 GB of memory while it
    runs, so that's less time with it in use.

Install

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 21 Oct 07:29

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new in 0.28.0

Added

  • Labaro has an icon in the macOS menu bar. Click it to switch to any of
    your first ten services, bringing Labaro to the front even when it's
    hidden or behind another app, or to open Settings. A service with
    something unread has a red or green dot beside its name, as on its
    sidebar icon, and on macOS 14 and later the number of important
    messages when it's known. The icon itself gets a red dot while
    anything important is unread, as Labaro's Dock icon does. It can also
    show how much memory Labaro is using, such as "2.4GB", in red while
    that's over the memory alert's limit. The icon and the memory figure
    are turned on or off in a new Menu Bar section of Settings: the icon
    is on to start with, and the memory figure off. On a MacBook with a
    full menu bar, macOS may hide the icon behind the camera notch.

Install

  1. Download Labaro.zip below and unzip it.
  2. Drag Labaro into Applications.
  3. Right-click Labaro, choose Open, and confirm. Only needed the first time, since the app isn't notarized yet.

If macOS says the app is damaged, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Labaro.app in Terminal and open it again.

    your browser.

Labaro 0.27.0

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 14 Oct 20:48

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new since 0.26.1

0.27.0

Changed

  • A service woken from sleep opens on the page it was showing when it
    went to sleep, such as the Slack channel, Gmail label or chat you had
    open, instead of on its start page. Quitting Labaro and opening it
    again does the same: each service opens where you left it.

0.26.2

Changed

  • A service's name shows the moment you point at its icon in the
    sidebar, just to the right of it and in larger type, like the names
    in the Dock, instead of after a wait in a small tooltip under the
    pointer.

Install

@opensourceame opensourceame released this 13 Oct 18:03

Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Needs macOS 14 or later for per-service sign-in.

What's new in 0.26.1

Added

  • The sidebar scrolls when you have more services than fit, so the ones
    at the bottom are no longer out of reach. Up and down buttons show at
    the top and bottom of the icons while there are more that way. Holding
    an icon you're dragging over one scrolls the sidebar, so you can move
    it past the ones in view. Switching to a service whose icon is out of
    sight scrolls it into view.

Install
