Stale contributor still appears in repository contributors after history rewrite

I am seeing a stale contributor entry in this repository:

The account git-wayv-agency still appears in Insights > Contributors, even though I already rewrote the repository history and force-pushed the updated history more than a week ago.

I have checked the repository history and I can no longer find any commits or contributions attributed to git-wayv-agency, but the account is still listed in the contributors graph.

What I already checked:

• the repository history was rewritten successfully
• the updated history was force-pushed
• more than 24 hours have passed
• I cannot find any remaining commits attributed to git-wayv-agency

From the docs, I understand contributor data can take around 24 hours to refresh after history changes, but in this case it has been over a week.

Has anyone seen this before?
Is there any reliable way to refresh the contributors graph when a stale contributor remains after a history rewrite?

Your rewrite actually worked. I poked at the repo from outside and git-wayv-agency is gone from pretty much everywhere:

• the contributors API (/repos/manti-ui/ui/contributors) doesn't list it
• the stats endpoint that feeds Insights → Contributors (/stats/contributors) doesn't either, and the graph data on that page has just igdiaysu, github-actions, tuna4ll, claude and you
• no commits by that account on any of your branches or tags, and no PRs from it

The one place it's still showing is the little Contributors box in the sidebar of the repo's main page. That box is cached separately and doesn't always refresh after a force-push, so it can sit there showing old data long after everything else has updated.

So there's nothing more to fix on your end. Hard-refresh first (Ctrl+Shift+R) to rule out your browser. If it's still there after that, contact GitHub Support and ask them to refresh the contributors cache for manti-ui/ui. Their docs on rewriting history mention they're the ones who clear cached views. Send them the link to this discussion so they can see you've already checked everything else.

Just a heads up from someone who sent a support ticket to Github Support about such a problem. They might just close your support ticket if your subscription tier isn't high enough.
