I would like to suggest adding search/filter support to workflow_dispatch inputs of type choice in the "Run workflow" form.

For example, a deployment workflow may offer a long list of services to deploy. Finding the intended service requires scrolling through the dropdown, especially when names are long or share similar prefixes.

It would be helpful to type part of a name, filter the predefined options, and select a matching result, similar to the existing "Use workflow from" branch/tag selector.

This would also benefit workflows for selecting deployment regions, test suites, or other targets.

The request is specifically about searching within predefined choices, not dynamically generating options.

Not supported in the web form as far as I know, but the GitHub CLI is a decent workaround. gh workflow run without -f prompts for each input, and choice inputs are shown as a select list where you can type to filter the options:

gh workflow run deploy.yml --ref main

If you already know the value, skip the prompt with gh workflow run deploy.yml -f service=payments-api. The value has to match one of the options exactly, otherwise the API rejects it with a 422.

Thanks for the suggestion! The CLI is a good workaround for individual use.

However, in our case the workflow is shared by teammates with varying levels of CLI familiarity. Requiring everyone to install and authenticate gh and remember workflow file names adds friction, and the web UI remains the most accessible way for the whole team to run it.

Searchable choices in the "Run workflow" form would make long option lists easier to use for everyone, without changing how the team already runs workflows.
