Release list
Euspell 0.3.6
Fixes "read" after "to": "I want to read the book" now keeps read instead of taking the past-tense redd. Reread, misread, proofread and related words are fixed with it. On the read test corpus: 67.3% before, 80.7% after, nothing newly wrong.

What is new since 0.3.2
Iis spelledih. The paper's Singletons section has always said so — I is the only always-capitalised word in English, and the capital does no work — but the lexicon had never carried the row. It does now, and the capital follows the ordinary rule:ihmid-sentence,Ihat the start of one. The letter and the Roman numeral are untouched, so Section I, I-beam and dot the i all read as before.- Twenty-five more French loanwords take the
-ehending, the grapheme attache, ballet and beret already used:bidet→bideh, canape→canapeh, emigre→emigreh, matinee→matineh, pate→patehand the rest. Three of them are heteronyms rather than plain loanwords — expose, resume and frappe split into a noun in-ehand a verb keeping its own spelling, and reach a disambiguator instead of converting outright. - Two rows that disagreed with themselves.
precipesspelledprecipee, its own singular; it isprecipees.garrotecarried a spelling it was never allowed to use — a units digit of0beside a euspelling — so it passed through unreformed whilegarote, garotteandgarrotteall converted; it is101now, matching them. - Every derived dictionary is rebuilt from the new lexicon: the Hunspell and Word dictionaries, the PoS export, the Harper metadata and both pronunciation lexicons. Three of them had been carrying older data than the lexicon they are generated from.
Safari
The notarised Euspell-Safari-0.3.3-macOS.dmg follows and will be attached here; it needs an Apple notarisation pass that runs on a Mac. Until it lands, 0.3.2 remains the current Safari download. Same engine and same lexicon as the Firefox build above.
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera
Not in this release. The Chrome Web Store listing continues to serve 0.3.2 until 0.3.3 clears review.
Eupub
The reader ships from its own repository: eupub v0.3.3 — Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. The iPhone build on the App Store stays at 0.2.3 for now.
Euspell 0.3.2
Euspell 0.3.2 for Firefox and Safari (macOS).
Firefox
Mozilla-signed build of the Euspell browser extension, self-distributed.
Install: download euspell-0.3.2.xpi below and open it in Firefox, or drag it onto the Add-ons page. Firefox 128 or later.
What is new since 0.3.1
- Built from the corrected lexicon. 163 entries were revised during a pass over the
pronunciation file, and those revisions change how the words convert, not only how
they are spoken. - Carries an update URL, so this build and every one after it will be offered updates
automatically. 0.3.1 was signed before that key was added and cannot be updated in
place — anyone running it has to install this file by hand, once.
Self-distributed rather than listed on addons.mozilla.org: AMO rejects an update URL on
a listed add-on, and a self-hosted build needs one to update at all.
Safari (macOS)
Apple-notarized macOS app that carries the Safari web extension — Apple requires Safari
web extensions to be delivered inside an app.
Install: download Euspell-Safari-0.3.2-macOS.dmg below, open it, drag Euspell.app
into your Applications folder, double-click it once to register the extension, then turn on
Euspell in Safari ▸ Settings ▸ Extensions and allow it on the sites you want.
Signed and notarized by Apple. It is a direct download (not the App Store yet), so it does
not auto-update — re-download to get a newer version.
Euspell 0.3.1 for Firefox
The Firefox build of the Euspell browser extension, signed by Mozilla.
Firefox installs signed add-ons only. This one is signed through AMO's
self-distribution channel, so it is a permanent install rather than a
temporary add-on that disappears when the browser restarts — but it is not
listed in the Add-ons catalogue, and it does not update itself.
Install: download euspell-0.3.1.xpi, then open it in Firefox — or drag it
onto the browser window. Firefox will ask you to confirm.
- Requires Firefox 128 or later, which is the current ESR line.
- Works on Firefox for Android too, though Android cannot install an
.xpifrom
a URL: download the file first, then install it from local storage. - On Firefox, site access is opt-in. The welcome tab shows a Grant access
button you have to click before pages convert.
Conversion runs entirely on your own device. No account, no server, no telemetry,
and nothing you read is uploaded.
The other platforms
- Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi — Chrome Web Store
- Safari — a signed, Apple-notarized app: Euspell-Safari-0.3.1-macOS.dmg
- Eupub, the standalone EPUB/PDF reader, ships separately from
ossiak/eupub
