Share by email was removed in 4.5

The function to share files was reworked between 4.0.x and 4.5(.1); unfortunately, in that rewrite, also the functionality to share a public link directly via an email address was removed; one now has to copy the provided link out of owncloud and into a mail. It would be nice if that feature was added again!

Another +1 for adding Share by Email back. Why was it even removed? This feature needs to be added back to Ownclud. Why remove such useful and popular functionality?

Sharing files via email links is probably the main reason we use Owncloud...it's a real deal breaker for our needs. Have reverted to 4.0.8 until this gets resolved, which hopefully it will. Seems like a huge oversight to be left out of a new version.

Any news on that? 4.5.2 is out and no sight of that. By the way what was the rationale of reworking that between 4.0.x and 4.5? It worked quite nice in 4.0.x already, why change it to the worse in 4.5.x?

Updated to latest 4.5.6, hoped to find share by email restored, but it is not. Unfortunately this is a showstopper for me, as it is the primary use for my environment. Are there any updates on when to expect this will be included again?

Perhaps you overlooked it. Even in my "strict" view it appears to be solved since 4.5.5:

• Share with link

then

• Send link to person (fill in the e-mail address of the person to whom the link should be sent)

You are absolutely right, I didn't understand the UI. Rather than typing into the 'Share with' field, you look further down to 'Email link to person'. Thanks so much!
