reopened: Having issues with upgrade OC server from 8.0.1 to 8.0.2 via update center:

it stops saying "server errror: look in the webserver logfile for errors".

/var/log/nginx/error.log:

2015/03/13 11:18:10 [error] 2584#0: *87986 upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream, client: 5.28.69.71, server: xxxx, request: "GET /owncloud/index.php/apps/updater/ajax/backup.php HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock", host: "xxxx", referrer: "https://xxxx/owncloud/index.php/apps/updater/update.php"

The owncloud directory at /var/www/owncloud as well as the data directory at /mnt/crypt/owncloud have drwxrwx--- www-data www-data permissions and ownership.

This did not fix it. Still running on 8.0.1 with the yellow bar on top.

  • client: firefox 36.0.1, OSX 10.7
  • server: nginx 1.4.6, mariadb 5.5.41, php 5.5.9, ubuntu 14.04

I tried both nginx options in conjunction (just to make sure) therefore can't tell which one actually helped, but my upgrade from a (relatively) fresh 8.0 to 8.0.2 afterwards did not run into a timeout any more. Maybe you should integrate this into the example configuration in the owncloud documentation...

after leaving the system aside for a couple of days, suddenly the old and as I assumed deprecated upgrade notification appeared in the browser:
uaqu5aiv
Client sync operations were failing during that time, which has been reported and as I assumed were fixed in OC8. So I hit the button, and then the well-known CSRF error message appeared again:
nip6aowi
So because this is a production system, I passed the command sudo -u www-data ./occ upgrade on the command line. That worked, but after it finished, there was still the maintenance message in the browser:
lingaa6p
So I had to turn maintenance off in config/config.php manually to make it run again.

After the upgrade the calendar and contacts app were deactivated, but after reactivating them everything worked and I am now running owncloud server v8.0.2.

@mcnesium all 3 screenshots are made at the core database upgrade page. It's not deprecated.

Closing as unrelated to the Updater app, please reopen in core.
