Back and forward. A quiet
← →pair at the top left retraces the documents you have visited,
greyed when there is nowhere to go, with View ▸ Back / Forward behind it (⌃⌘← / ⌃⌘→ on a Mac,
Alt+arrows elsewhere). It is the other axis from the navigator: the navigator climbs, Back
retraces. Scenes, the Properties page and the Project Overview are all places, and moving the
caret around a scene is not a journey, so a Back into a scene lands where you left it. -
Properties have their own page.
@patterproperties are the story's working vocabulary, and
they were living in a tab of the Project Settings dialog, which treated them as configuration.
There is now a Properties row at the top of the navigator, above the scenes, carrying a count
of what the project declares; it opens a page in the editor's column, with the navigator still
beside it. Edits save as they settle, the way a document does, instead of on closing a dialog.
World Properties stay in Settings, beside the coverage drivers: that half really is configuration,
the contract with your game, and the page links across to it. If you were last on the page when
you quit, that is where the project reopens. (from-storylets/property-visibility.) -
A property chip says what it is for. Hovering a property in any condition or effect shows the
purpose written on its declaration, and, for a Quality, its ladder of stages. Nothing to fill in
that you have not already: it is the Purpose field in Settings ▸ Properties. -
Right-click a property: Go to definition, Find usages. Go to definition opens where it is
declared (@patterin Settings ▸ Properties, a scene property in that scene's editor,@worldin
Settings ▸ World Properties); Find usages opens the search window's property mode, which lists
every read and write with its location. On every property chip, including the target of an effect
and the read-only rows in the inspector. (from-storylets/property-visibility; expr-editor 0.14.1,
which also carries the fix for a preview's target chip having neither.)
Changed
- One row of chrome, not two. On macOS Patterpad's own topbar is now the window's title bar: the
native strip above it carried nothing but a title the bar already showed, so it is gone and you get
the row back. Off macOS the window keeps its native frame and the bar sits beneath it as before.
In Writing View the bar no longer collapses; it fades back instead, and firms up when you point at
it - collapsing it would leave the traffic lights floating over your prose.
Fixed
- Move and delete buttons in the property lists centre their glyphs (app-shell 0.33.1).
