RunPost v0.2.0
The HTTP client you and your AI agent share. RunPost is a Postman-like desktop app with a built-in MCP server: your agent (Claude Code, Codex…) runs your saved requests by name, gets compact answers with secrets masked, and you watch every call live — and approve the risky ones. One binary. No account. No telemetry.
RunPost 0.2.0 adds the Postman features that were still missing from day-to-day work.
What's new
- Import from more tools: Insomnia (v4 and v5 exports) and Bruno (
.brufolders, OpenCollection YAML and the JSON export), on top of Postman v2.1, OpenAPI 3, HAR and cURL. Paste text or pick files in the new Import dialog; a pasted cURL opens in a new tab. What gets translated: docs/IMPORT.md. - Code snippets: the
</>panel turns a request into cURL, fetch, PowerShell or Pythonrequests. Plain variables are resolved and secrets stay as{{variables}}, so a snippet is safe to paste into a chat or a ticket. Agents get the same code withget_requestandsnippet; there are still 13 MCP tools. - GraphQL bodies: query and variables side by side, sent as the standard GraphQL-over-HTTP JSON. Details: docs/REQUESTS.md.
- Auth: digest (MD5, SHA-256 and SHA-512-256) and OAuth 2.0: client credentials, and authorization code with PKCE and a local callback. Tokens stay in memory or the OS keyring, never in files, the history, MCP output or the UI. Details: docs/AUTH.md.
- Cookie manager (see, add, edit and delete cookies by domain) and client certificates per host for mutual TLS. Details: docs/NETWORK.md.
- Saved examples per request: "Save as example" from a response, also imported from and exported to Postman.
- Find and replace across a collection, with match case, whole word and regex.
- A trash with undo for collections, folders, requests and environments, kept for 30 days. Details: docs/COLLECTIONS.md.
Changes worth knowing:
- In the local API,
DELETEof a collection, folder, request or environment now answers200with the trash entry instead of204. - The MCP
get_requesttool shows***instead of credentials written literally in a request's auth.
Install
The builds are not code-signed yet: Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper ask for confirmation on the first launch.
Each block ends by putting runpost_mcp (the CLI and MCP server that agents use) on your PATH.
Windows (x64), in PowerShell:
Invoke-WebRequest https://github.com/paul0610/runpost/releases/download/v0.2.0/RunPost_0.2.0_x64-setup.exe -OutFile RunPost-setup.exe
.\RunPost-setup.exe
[Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable('Path', [Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable('Path','User') + ";$env:LOCALAPPDATA\RunPost", 'User')The installer is per user (no admin) and puts runpost_mcp.exe next to the app. RunPost_0.2.0_x64-portable.exe is the app alone, without installing; it needs the WebView2 runtime, which Windows 11 already has.
macOS (Apple silicon):
curl -LO https://github.com/paul0610/runpost/releases/download/v0.2.0/RunPost_0.2.0_aarch64.dmg
hdiutil attach RunPost_0.2.0_aarch64.dmg && cp -R /Volumes/RunPost/RunPost.app /Applications/ && hdiutil detach /Volumes/RunPost
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/RunPost.app && sudo ln -sf /Applications/RunPost.app/Contents/MacOS/runpost_mcp /usr/local/bin/runpost_mcpLinux (x64, Debian / Ubuntu):
curl -LO https://github.com/paul0610/runpost/releases/download/v0.2.0/RunPost_0.2.0_amd64.deb
sudo apt install ./RunPost_0.2.0_amd64.deb
runpost_appOr the AppImage: chmod +x RunPost_0.2.0_amd64.AppImage && ./RunPost_0.2.0_amd64.AppImage. If it does not start, install FUSE 2 (libfuse2, or libfuse2t64 on Ubuntu 24.04).
Only the CLI and MCP server, without the desktop app: runpost_mcp_0.2.0_windows-x64.exe, runpost_mcp_0.2.0_macos-arm64.tar.gz or runpost_mcp_0.2.0_linux-x64.tar.gz. Put runpost_mcp on your PATH; runpost_mcp serve --browser opens the same UI in your browser.
Connect your agent
Claude Code (2.1.275 or later), one line in your terminal:
claude plugin install runpost --marketplace paul0610/runpostOr inside Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add paul0610/runpost, then /plugin install runpost@runpost. The plugin needs runpost_mcp on your PATH. With the RunPost app open on the same workspace, its calls show up in the Agent panel and protected requests wait for your approval.
Codex, Claude Desktop and others: in the app, Agent → Connect agent ▾ copies a ready-made config with your paths. Examples, including an AGENTS.md for Codex, are in docs/mcp-client-configs. The MCP contract is in docs/MCP.md.
Checksums (SHA-256)
SHA256SUMS.txt in the assets lists them too.

RunPost v0.1.0
The HTTP client you and your AI agent share. RunPost is a Postman-like desktop app with a built-in MCP server: your agent (Claude Code, Codex…) runs your saved requests by name, gets compact answers with secrets masked, and you watch every call live — and approve the risky ones. One binary. No account. No telemetry.
This is the first public release.
Highlights
- Postman habits: collections, environments and globals,
pm.*scripts (pre-request and tests), Collection Runner with data files, Postman v2.1 import and export, the same keyboard shortcuts. - MCP built in: 13 compact tools over stdio and Streamable HTTP. The agent refers to saved requests by name instead of rewriting URLs, headers and tokens;
select, ranges and diffs keep answers small. The wholetools/listis ≈ 1,600 tokens. - Live Agent panel: every call of the model as a row (tool, request, status, ms, raw → sent bytes) with a token meter.
- Guardrails: per collection, allowed methods, requests that need your approval in the app (Approve / Deny, 60 s) and a calls-per-minute limit.
- Secrets out of the way: masked for the agent, the history and the logs, and optionally kept in the OS keyring instead of the workspace files.
- Runner in your terminal and CI:
runpost_mcp run <collection> --out junit. - Claude Code plugin with the MCP server, an
api-testingskill and/runpost:run,/runpost:suite,/runpost:import. - English and Spanish UI, light and dark themes. Local and Git-friendly: one plain JSON file per collection and environment.
On Windows 11 the desktop app is 19 MB, opens in ≈ 1.1 s and uses ≈ 37 MB at rest (plus the system WebView). Details in docs/BENCH.md.
