PearOffice 1.1.5
What's Changed
PearOffice now lets you tag your files and search for them.
New Features
- Tags. Give any file as many tags as you like, such as Bicycle, Sports or Budget, from Tags... in its menu. Each tag gets its own colour, and only you can see your tags. They are the same on all your devices and come back with your recovery phrase
- Search your files. A search box above your files finds them by name as you type. Tap one or more tags to see the files that have all of them. Searching from Your files looks inside your folders too and shows which folder each file is in
Improvements
- Manage tags. Rename a tag or delete it from every file at once. Deleting a tag never deletes your files
PearOffice 1.1.4
PearOffice now opens files in tabs or in their own windows, keeps a version history of every file and can link to your PearCal events.
New Features
- Tabs. Open several files at once on desktop and switch between them with a click, Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+1 to 9. Your tabs come back the next time you open PearOffice
- Open a file in its own window. Choose Open in new window from a file's menu to put it beside another one or on a second screen. Your windows come back after a restart
- Version history. Documents, sheets and slides keep their earlier versions. See who changed what and when, with changes marked, and restore any earlier version
- @ chips in documents. Type @ to add a person, a file, a folder or a date. A person's name stays current, and a file opens with a tap
- Links on pictures and shapes. Give a picture in a document, or a picture or shape on a slide, a link to a web page, an email address, a file or a folder. Clicking it during a slideshow opens it
- Links to PearCal. Link a cell, some text or a slide to a PearCal event or day. Date chips have Open in PearCal
Improvements
- Tidier menus. The three-dots menu and the right-click menus group their options under headings such as File, Data and Save as. Menus always fit in the window, and on phones a group opens in place with a way back
- Better links in documents. Links to your files and folders can be picked from a list. A card under a link lets you open it or copy it, and Ctrl+click opens it straight away
Bug Fixes
- Links in documents now work as they should
- A newly linked device trying to delete a file for everyone now gets a clear message instead of an error
- Fixed a rare case where changes to your file list made at the same moment on two devices could be missed
PearOffice 1.1.3
##What's Changed
New Features
- Coloured dropdowns. A dropdown list in a sheet can show each choice as a coloured pill, as in Google Sheets. Choose Dropdown from a cell's menu and the values already in those cells become the choices, each with its own colour. Tap a choice in the setup to change its colour
- More than one choice. Turn on "Allow more than one choice" and tick as many items as you like. Each one shows as its own pill
- Smart chips. Type @ in a cell to add a date, a person from the file or one of your files or folders. People show with their picture and current name and files with their icon. Dates get a calendar button for changing them
- Links to your files and folders. Link a cell to another PearOffice file or one of your folders from the Link button's Go to list. Anyone the file is shared with can open it; others are told they don't have it
- Copy link. Every file and folder on the start screen has Copy link in its menu. Paste it into a chat or email, and opening it takes you straight there
Improvements
- The dropdown list ticks the current choice and has Edit choices at the bottom
- Excel and LibreOffice files keep the colours of single-choice dropdowns, and PDFs show the pills
PearOffice 1.1.2
##What's new
New Features
- Templates. Mark any sheet, document or deck as a template from its menu. New then offers it next to a blank file, and picking it gives you a fresh copy of your own. Keep a template to yourself or share it with people the usual way. Comments stay behind in the template
- Ready-made templates. New comes with a Budget sheet, a Recipe, Meeting notes and a Simple deck to start from
- Links in spreadsheet cells. Add a link to a web page, an email address, another tab, a cell, a block of cells or a named range. Use the Link button, Ctrl+K or right-click a cell. Ctrl+click (Cmd+click on a Mac) a linked cell to follow it
- Web addresses typed into a cell become links on their own
- The HYPERLINK formula works, as in Excel
- Links come along when you open or save .xlsx and .ods files. Links to web pages stay clickable in PDFs
Improvements
- Right-click a file, or press and hold it on a phone, to open its menu
- A long list of templates gets a search box and buttons to show only sheets, documents or slides
PearOffice 1.1.1
PearOffice 1.1.1 makes backing up to a seeder simpler.
Improvements
- A simpler Seeder screen. Shorter instructions, and on phones one button to scan a seeder's QR code, with the option to paste a link instead
- See what each seeder holds. Each seeder now shows how many of your files back up to it
- Clearer pairing. Adding a seeder shows its progress and tells you plainly if something went wrong
- Stop using a seeder faster. It asks you to confirm, then finishes straight away. If someone else in a shared file added that seeder, you are told which files it keeps backing up
- Get a seeder. A new link takes you to the PeerLoom Seeder download page
Bug Fixes
- Pairing a seeder again after you stopped using it now backs up your files to it again. Before, it backed up nothing
Downloads
- Linux: the AppImage, or the .deb for Debian and Ubuntu
