  • The real CPU clock. Read sensors now measures how fast the CPU actually runs ("CPU clock
(measured)"): the helper times a short run of simple instructions on each core it may use. The
number 9.2.1 showed was only the speed the power controller had set, and on top of that the row
mixed in the game cores' idle level, so at the home screen it read "0.80–3.20 GHz". Measured on a
PS5 at the home screen, the system cores run about 2.8–3.2 GHz against a 3.2 GHz target. The
target is still shown as "CPU target clock", now over the same cores, and hovering lists every
core. The four game cores are reserved for games and can't be measured. The measurement runs
only when you press Read sensors (about 20 ms per core) and uses no privileged instruction.
