I'm confused what this could possibly have to do with the MQTT client, since connecting to a broker happens via TCP or encrypted TCP, but never HTTP/S. Can you share a bit more details about your setup and the code you are using?

The first issue is related to CORS and has nothing to do with the MQTT client. Seems like your frontend is hosted on another domain than the backend and the access fails due to missing CORS rules.

The second issue is related to the MQTT client, but I cannot see any issue with the presented configuration (which seems to be the default configuration anyway). Are you setting the environment variables for the MQTT broker correctly? And are you certain, there is no active firewall between the Laravel application and the MQTT broker (in other words, is the access to the broker port granted)? The latter may be checked with telnet test.mosquitto.org 1883 for example.
