Oh, I almost forgot: as can be seen from the (unmodified) mcryph_filters.phpt, mcrypt stream filter support has not yet been deprecated. The RFC doesn't explicitly mention this, but apparently it has to be done so we eventually can move mcrypt to PECL. |

The stream filter should be deprecated like the whole mcrypt. |
