pear.php.net Lacks Functional Channel for Privacy-Driven Account Removal #1306

Description

@Identity9165

To the PHP.net Team,

I'm unable to reset the password for my account on pear.php.net because my email address associated with the account is no longer valid. The official password reset instructions state:

"If your email address is no longer valid, please mail and explain the situation, your password can only be reset manually."

However, when I attempt to contact pear-qa@lists.php.net, I receive the following error:

"Post to pear-qa@lists.php.net denied"
Reason: "unable to be delivered to the list because you are not a list subscriber."

This effectively blocks me from reaching anyone who could assist. I’m not willing to subscribe to a public mailing list for a one-time request, as that would unnecessarily expose my name and email, which defeats the purpose of my privacy-related concern.

Request:
Please provide a functional and private method to:

  1. Request a password reset for PEAR accounts with invalid email addresses.
  2. Request full account deletion from pear.php.net .

This is especially important for users wishing to minimize their digital footprint or comply with privacy standards.

Thank you.
