phpBB SEO Framework (Lite Edition) v1.3.1

We are pleased to announce the release of phpBB SEO Framework Lite v1.3.1.

This maintenance release resolves inbound pagination 404 errors, ensures deterministic URL resolving on subdirectory installations, enhances CSRF token isolation, and maintains 100% compliance with phpBB core standards.

🎯 Key Changes in v1.3.1

1. Inbound Pagination 404 Resolution (Fixes #1)

  • Problem: In previous versions, saving settings in the ACP SEO Dashboard or clicking "Recompile Routes" omitted pagination patterns (forum_page and topic_page) from the route compiler parameter set. This resulted in store/compiled_routes.php lacking page routes (is_page => true), causing inbound URLs like /topic/example-10/page/2/ to return a 404 Not Found error.
  • Resolution: Updated acp/main_module.php so all route cache compilation passes include forum_page and topic_page alongside base resources (topic, forum, member, group). The pre-bootstrap router (rewrite.php) now matches all pagination URLs deterministically.

2. Subdirectory Installation Pagination URL Resolving

  • Problem: On installations located in subdirectories whose folder names match resource pattern segments (such as /forum/ with pattern /forum/{slug}-{id}/), redundant board prefix stripping in PublicResourceUrlResolver caused the resource prefix to be double-stripped, resulting in pagination links falling back to ?start=50.
  • Resolution: Streamlined Section 3 and Section 4 in PublicResourceUrlResolver to rely on the already-canonicalized, board-relative path output from normalizeBoardPath(). Pagination URLs are now cleanly generated across all directory hierarchies.

3. CSRF Form Token Isolation

  • Problem: Overwriting the core template variable S_FORM_TOKEN by auxiliary components could lead to "The submitted form was invalid" notices when submitting new topics or administrative forms.
  • Resolution: Isolated security token assignment with dedicated template variable suffixes (S_FORM_TOKEN_STORIES), ensuring phpBB's primary posting forms retain untampered token validation.

🧪 Verification & Quality Assurance

  • PHPUnit Suite: 234 automated tests passing (861 assertions) with 100% success rate.
  • phpBB Extension Pre-Validator (EPV): 100% compliant (Fatal: 0, Error: 0, Warning: 0, Notice: 0).
  • Live Server Validation: Verified on both production (https://www.phpbbseo.com/) and demo (https://www.phpbbseo.com/demo/).

  2. Upload the extracted contents to your phpBB root at ext/phpbbseo/framework/, overwriting existing files.
  3. Purge your forum cache via the phpBB Administration Control Panel (ACP) or CLI (php bin/phpbbcli.php cache:purge).
