Would be great to have reminder (tasks) supported in khal, not just events.

This would be really nice to have, but since I use TaskWarrior myself, this is pretty low on my ToDo list.

Because at that time it didn't seem TaskWarrior was able to support CalDAV or iCalendar import, i wrote my own task manager which somewhat syncs with CalDAV through a weird hack: https://github.com/untitaker/watdo

Check out todoman (https://github.com/hobarrera/todoman). I honestly think task suport is out of scope for khal, although I think todoman and khal could share some code regarding the database cache.
