This feature request has already been on the sourceforge tracker for a while. Since I'm not sure wether this tracker is actually still active, I repost it here.

In some fields it has become quite common to have articles prepublished online before they are officially published in the respective journal. I therefore suggest a new bibstring "prepublished" for the pubstate field.

This would be useful, though all existing pubstates could be considered some form of "pre-publication". We could simply call the new state "online". @plk Any thoughts?

I'm happy with "prepublished" - the others are really not yet published states, this is published but not in final form/location.

I've added "prepublished" as a bib string for english and a placeholder for everything else. I'm sure @simifilm knows what this should be in German?

I used "Online-Vorveröffentlichung" for German. Which literally "Online prepublication". Just "prepublication" would be "Vorveröffentlichung".

Is there an accepted abbreviated form?

Not that I know of.

Ok, then this will be in 2.3.
