Serverless Blog (Back-end)

A series of projects showing how you can build a serverless blog in AWS. This project contains the back-end part of the application. You can find the front-end part in https://github.com/printezisn/serverless-blog-front.

Built With

The project is built in Go and uses the following AWS components:

  • Lambda Function
  • API Gateway
  • DynamoDB
  • Cognito

Getting Started

The following instructions will get you started with the project in your local environment.

Prerequisites

Before starting, you need to install the following components:

  • Go
  • AWS CLI
  • AWS SAM CLI
  • Docker

Build

You can build the project by running the following command:

make

Running the tests

You can run the unit tests with the following command:

make test

Running the application

You can run the application with the following command:

make run

Please note that Docker must be started in order to run the application. This is because SAM uses Docker to run the application locally.

Deployment

Before deploying the application you need to make sure that you have set your AWS credentials. Also, you need to set the following environment variables:

  • STACK_NAME: The name of the CloudFormation stack.
  • CODE_URI_BUCKET: The name of the S3 bucket where the application artifacts will be stored.

After everything is set, you can run the following command:

make deploy
