Upgrading

  • For plugin authors: plugins can now offer callables to each other.
    • registry.register_service("<name>", fn) registers a callable under the plugin's own id.
    • graph.sdk.service("<plugin>.<name>") resolves it, and returns None when the providing plugin is off.
    • A service registered outside its plugin's namespace is skipped with a warning.
    • artifact.show is the first service. It's synchronous and can block for up to about 3 s while the chart renders, so call it via asyncio.to_thread from async code (ADR 0116, #4025).

Highlights

  • Charts as Vega-Lite specs in the Artifact panel.
    • A new vega-lite artifact kind draws a small JSON spec with its rows inline, in the console's chart palette (dark or light, redrawn when you switch themes).
    • The model writes a query and a few hundred bytes of spec instead of a hand-written chart component. In testing, "what were my best weekdays last quarter? chart it" went from send to chart in about 18 s, against about 50 s before.
    • Vega, Vega-Lite and vega-embed are vendored and SRI-pinned, so charts work offline.
    • Charts run under a no-network CSP with no eval. The loader refuses every fetch and only inline data is drawn. A data column named url is fine (ADR 0116, #4025).
  • The Analyst, for your own data (held from the picker for now).
    • A new archetype that answers questions from your local CSV, Parquet, JSON, Excel and SQLite files.
    • It uses read-only SQL through the new data plugin (DuckDB) and shows one chart with a one-line takeaway.
    • It states its assumptions, cites the source file and never invents a number.
    • It reads only the folders you allow, and on first run it asks for one.
    • It's held from the new-agent picker while it's being tested. You can create one from the bundle at https://github.com/protoLabsAI/analyst-archetype (#4026).
