Reasons for the request
Yes, I believe the project pymas qualifies for a name transfer under PEP 541 due to meeting criteria for both abandonment and invalidity:
Abandonment: The project has been inactive since its single initial release on February 23, 2012. There has been no new version or any discernible activity related to the project on PyPI for over 13 years. This prolonged inactivity strongly indicates the project is abandoned according to the timeframes typically considered under PEP 541.
Invalid Contact Information / Unreachable Owner: The sole contact method listed on the PyPI project page is the email address pymas@us-robotics.net. My attempt to contact the owner via this address on 22 April 2025 failed, resulting in a bounce-back message indicating the address was not found (invalid).
Inability to Contact: Further investigation revealed no active website associated with the domain us-robotics.net, and no alternative contact information for the project owner could be located. This makes it impossible to fulfill the standard PEP 541 requirement of attempting contact with the listed owner, as the provided contact method is defunct.
Lack of Source Repository: Additionally, there is no source code repository linked on the PyPI page, making it difficult for users to inspect the code or contribute, further supporting the appearance of an unmaintained project.
Given the complete lack of updates for over a decade and the invalid, non-functional contact information preventing any communication, the pymas project appears definitively abandoned and qualifies as invalid under the guidelines set forth in PEP 541.
