Amazon Linux has now incremented from v1 to v2.

  • V1 has a 2 year EOL, and is now frozen except for security fixes.
  • V2 is supported going forward. It has a slightly different mechanism for more modern versions of some packages, e.g. python3.6 instead of 2.7.5 in the base.

When is the V1 EOL date?

I think 9/2019, It's 2 years and the last release was tagged 2017.9. I suspect that this is still going to be the base AMI for python2.7 lambda functions till then. (or till there's some change in the 2.7 EOL policy)

So, Arch has a new test failure, fixed in python-pillow/Pillow#2896.
Fedora 26 is now showing webp 0.6.1, which is the same failure that we're getting on fedora-27.
