Changes since the last release

Added

  • Blackouts: drinking past My Summer Car's pass-out line (or being knocked out) while Kumpo is handed over fades Skyrim to black, and he wakes up hours later somewhere else in Skyrim, at a random town, farm, mill, stable or dock, on solid ground, with My Summer Car's needs moved on as for a night's sleep, its hangover shaking the view and his hangover groan. He used to fall through the world (protocol v49).
  • Skyrim's food and drink feed Kumpo: eating lowers My Summer Car's hunger, drinks lower thirst, and ale, mead, wine, brandy and Skooma raise his drunk level by strength. A bottle of alcohol leaves an empty bottle in the inventory, and once the inventory is closed Kumpo drinks it in My Summer Car (once, however many he had). MSC Beer and MSC's food can be eaten and drunk from Skyrim's inventory too.
  • Every drink has its own bottle: once the inventory is closed Kumpo drinks it with My Summer Car's drinking for its kind (the beer bottle's for ale and mead, the booze bottle's for wine, brandy and Sujamma, the spirit bottle's for Skooma, without My Summer Car's chance of going blind, the carton's for milk, the juice's for juice), and his fist holds the Skyrim drink itself by the neck: Alto Wine's bottle for Alto Wine, Flin's for Flin, an ale bottle for ale, the Skooma bottle for Skooma. My Summer Car's own juice is still drunk from its own bottle. Each bottle of alcohol leaves its own empty: Empty Bottle for ale and mead, Empty Wine Bottle, Empty Liquor Bottle and Empty Skooma Bottle.
  • Drunk by bottle: a mead gets Kumpo a little drunker than an ale, a whole bottle of wine about three beers, brandy and Sujamma like My Summer Car's booze bottle.
  • Soft drinks: My Summer Car's juice goes in the pocket (Y) and is drunk from Skyrim's inventory, lowering thirst with no drunk; other mods' soft drinks do the same. Crouching in water and pressing E takes a sip of water.
  • Gold is Kumpo's money: My Summer Car's money follows Skyrim's gold both ways (one mark per gold), and shows as Money under the needs bars. The Skyrim save is the truth, so loading a save brings its money back.
  • Skyrim's favorites hotkeys are Kumpo's hotbar: three new powers (Empty Hands, Tools, Throw Junk), MSC Beer, MSC's food and any Skyrim food or drink can be bound to 1 to 8 in Skyrim's Favorites menu, which R opens on foot. The first time a save meets PerkeleRim its favorites get 1 Empty Hands, 2 Tools, 3 Throw Junk, 4 MSC Beer and 5 to 8 MSC's food; unbound numbers do nothing. Beer and food work with the tools out (Kumpo puts them away for a drink and takes them back out), and the tools icon shows top right while they're out. 3 is a throwing stance: after a throw the next empty bottle comes out by itself, and switching to another number puts the bottle in hand away first.
  • Throw junk from Skyrim's inventory: 3 (Throw Junk) takes out a random piece of what Kumpo carries, Empty Bottles and Skyrim's junk alike (tankards, plates, wine bottles, baskets, cabbages), so a run of throws mixes them; a big stack comes up more often than a single piece. Pelts, gems, ingots, lockpicks, keys and quest items are never thrown. It flies like a bottle, shows as the item itself in Kumpo's hand and in the air, hits harder the heavier it is (from half to three times a bottle's hit), and lands as the real item where it stops, ready to pick up again.
  • Charging a throw (hold the right button) shows a bar above the dot, gold at a full charge.
  • Thrown My Summer Car items hit by their weight too: the empty beer bottle as before, a lighter item softer, a heavy one (a full beer case) up to three times as hard.
  • Play mode: no more F10. Loading a save (the PerkeleRim-Kumpo starter, your own, a quickload, the reload after a death) hands Kumpo to My Summer Car by itself a couple of seconds after it has loaded, and again after quitting to the main menu and loading another one. If My Summer Car isn't running, Skyrim says so and Kumpo goes over once it is (also when MSC is still loading, or drops out mid-game). F10 stays as a debug toggle (protocol v41).
  • Kumpo's Helgen intro, from the most liked comment on the PerkeleRim video: Kumpo drank one beer too many in My Summer Car and wakes up in Skyrim's Helgen cart. A new game opens on black with him snoring, then groaning MSC's own hangover line ("Damn, that was definitely the last time I drink anything. Oh satan, what a feeling."), and after Ralof's "Hey, you. You're finally awake." he says Perkele. Captions show each line. A few seconds later the screen fades to black and Helgen is skipped: Kumpo, a Nord, wakes up at full health in front of the garage near Whiterun with the van on the pit and the shelves stocked, and goes over to My Summer Car. The race menu never opens. Unbound is done, Helgen lies in ruins and Before the Storm sends him to Riverwood, to Hadvar's uncle Alvor; HelgenSide=Stormcloak in the launcher's PerkeleRim.ini (next to Start PerkeleRim.bat) sends him to Ralof's sister Gerdur instead. Saves that never had the handover still wake him in the shack bed by the garage, with the same hangover line, so both start the same way: a night out, then Skyrim.
  • Kumpo's thu'um: Unrelenting Force yells MSC's own Perkele a syllable per word of power, "PER" for one word, "PER-KE" for two and "PER-KE-LE!" for all three. The clip is cut at runtime from your own My Summer Car, nothing from the game is shipped.
  • Other common shouts have a Finnish word of their own: Whirlwind Sprint "Vittu!", Fire Breath "Mitä helvettiä!?", Frost Breath "Voi vittu!", Become Ethereal "Jumalauta.", Dragonrend "Saatana!", Slow Time "Saatana...", Marked for Death "Kyrpä!", Clear Skies "Voi saatana!", Storm Call "Jumalauta jo!". Any other shout is still a random swear.
  • The drunker Kumpo is, the shorter Skyrim's shout cooldown, down to a third of it at full drunk: a full Fus Ro Dah is back in 15 s instead of 45.
  • Showing the middle finger (V) to a guard or a Jarl within about 5 m in front of you adds a 5 gold bounty in their hold, once per person per minute.
  • Dwemer oil stations beside Skyrim's main roads, by the garage outside Whiterun, south-east of Dragon Bridge, by the bridge below Windhelm and between Ivarstead and Riften, each on the map. Fill up the My Summer Car way: stop by the dwemer pump, open the fuel hatch, unscrew the cap, take the nozzle and pour. Every litre costs gold as it pours, at My Summer Car's own diesel price, and the pour stops when the gold runs out. The HUD shows the litres, the gold and the tank as it fills, and the hose reaches 6 m, so the tractor can fill up too.
  • Fuel runs out: the van and the Kekmet burn their diesel as in My Summer Car (the moped's tank stays full). The HUD warns under a quarter of a tank. A dry vehicle won't start, and calling it only works at a station, where it's towed onto the pump for 50 gold (free if it's already within 100 m) with its parking brake pulled.
  • Vehicles are solid in Skyrim: the van, the moped and the Kekmet stop arrows, spells and flames (hiding behind the parked van works, and arrows hit it with a metal clang) and people walk around them instead of through them. Ragdolls and dropped items bounce off too. Kumpo himself still walks through, and NPCs can't see him behind the van. At driving speed (from about 7 km/h) the hitbox steps aside so running people over works as before; Kumpo stays safe in the van and the Kekmet while seated, and in the van now also once he has climbed in before pressing Enter.
  • My Summer Car's options menu works from Skyrim: press F1 while Kumpo is in My Summer Car and its menu (graphics, controls and key bindings, sliders) comes up over Skyrim, with Skyrim's cursor. Skyrim pauses while it's up and Kumpo stands still, but My Summer Car's world keeps going, as under its own menu; Resume, F1 or Escape closes it. Its quit buttons do nothing from Skyrim (protocol v47).
  • A hit on Kumpo in the van or the Kekmet is a hit on the vehicle: a melee swing, an arrow, a spell bolt or a fire mage's flames at him make a metal clang and sparks on the van's body where it came from, with no grunt, no blood on the screen, no shake and no damage. Seated, Skyrim's body no longer sticks its head out of the roof, so arrows hit the van. On foot, hits on Kumpo hurt as before.
  • The Gifu truck in Skyrim: press ' on foot and My Summer Car's septic truck is parked in front of you, wherever it was, ready to drive with its key. Its lights, exhaust smoke and the view from its cab are My Summer Car's own, and its headlights, work lights and flashing amber beacons light up Skyrim around it, it burns diesel and fills up at the dwemer pumps like the van, it's solid to arrows and people, and a hit on Kumpo sitting or climbed into its cab is a metal clang on the truck, as in the van. It stays where you left it and goes with the Skyrim save. The septic tank and its pump work as in My Summer Car but have no job yet.
  • Setup in the launcher: the first time, Start PerkeleRim.bat finds My Summer Car and Skyrim (Steam libraries, Steam's own install records, or folders you pick), lists what's missing of MSCLoader, SKSE and Address Library, opens their download pages and waits while you install them, then installs PerkeleRim into both games. Skyrim's SKSE build is checked against the Skyrim version too.
  • Kumpo's needs matter in Skyrim, from the red mark at 100 to the end of the bar at 200: hunger or thirst past 150 drains health and can kill him (no more free reset to 0 at 200), fatigue slows st...

PerkeleRim 0.1.1

@uncikmarek uncikmarek released this 22 Oct 09:59

PerkeleRim now runs on Skyrim Special Edition 1.5.97 as well as Anniversary Edition, from the same zip. On SE, get the SKSE64 build for 1.5.97 and the "Special Edition" file of Address Library.

Added

  • Skyrim Special Edition 1.5.97 support, tested in game. The SKSE plugin was already one DLL for SE and AE; the launcher now checks for the SE Address Library file (version-1-5-97-0.bin) on 1.5.x, and doesn't add the starter Skyrim save there (it was made on AE and 1.5.97 calls it corrupt).

Fixed

  • PerkeleRim.esp is written with header version 1.70 instead of 1.71, which Skyrim SE 1.5.97 skipped without a word.

@uncikmarek uncikmarek released this 19 Oct 17:58

Fus-Perkele-Dah! The first public release of PerkeleRim: My Summer Car runs hidden and simulates Kumpo, the vehicles, the beer and the piss, while Skyrim AE owns the world and draws everything.

What you can do

  • Press F10 and Kumpo takes over: walk, punch, swear, smoke, piss, crouch and push people around with MSC's own controls, inside Skyrim.
  • Drive the Hayosiko van, ride the Jonnez moped and take the Kekmet tractor anywhere in Skyrim. Call any of them to you with [ / ] / ;.
  • MSC's needs (thirst, hunger, fatigue, stress, urine, dirtiness, drunk) on a HUD, with an endless pocket of beer, sausages and cigarettes.
  • Fight with your fists, throw bottles, and yell "Perkele!" instead of Unrelenting Force.
  • Wait and sleep through Skyrim's Wait menu, wash by wading into water.

Install

You need Skyrim AE (Steam) with SKSE64 and Address Library, and My Summer Car (Steam) with MSCLoader. Extract PerkeleRim-0.1.0.zip anywhere and double-click Start PerkeleRim.bat. Trailer: https://youtu.be/IJzDb4E7bYA. Full instructions and keys: README.

Known issues

Followers and horses don't play well with Kumpo yet, water is mostly ignored, and vehicles have no hitbox in Skyrim. Details in the README.
