Multiple server/app processes

I'm not a command line expert, so I'm not sure I can read that output correctly, but whoaaa.... that seems like a lot of processes. I'm not sure what might cause this, maybe the fact that I'm using guard in one shell or foreman in another. I just don't know.

Do these processes go away when you close your terminal(s)? Can you reliably reproduce this? Have you tried using pstree to see how the processes are related?
